What a pessimistic lot you are. Yeah we got smacked by the Wooden Spooners but we will be in the Finals. We have improved alot from last year and will improve again next year.

The pessimistic Perspective...
We should be going into the finals with fiery form on the board
Not losing to Wooden spooners
We need to lift this week because last week we were ordinary
Lets hope we lift this week and head into the finals with a winning momentum

We have underachieved this year. We threw away a top 4 finish with poor discipline and dumb football this season. Albiet we have been shafted by the referees a few times this year particularly against Parramatta in Round 1. I am concerned that the difference between our best and worst performances is still significant. We are at times mentally week with a soft underbelly. On Thursday night some of our player looked like they were going through the motions. Our defence was awful and Api's try was an embarrassment and made our forwards look like part time footballers.

We were a little lucky to have the 16 nil lead as the tigers came very close to scoring a couple of times early in the game and when the referee flipped the switch mid way through the first half with 6 starlight penalties and a sin bin and we folded like a pack of cards.

DCE has looked Jaded since he got knocked around in origin III and his decision making has been a bit off the mark. The challenge in the first few seconds was absurd. Our dummy halves were dreadful on Thursday night slow and sloppy and that didn't help us get over the advantage line. Simpkin needs to be dummy half as we looked much slicker with him playing there.

Its bitter sweet for me as I'm pleased that we are in the 8 but disappointed with what should have been. We need some momentum running into the semis and a win against the Dogs without Crichton is imperative. Our season could be over with losses in our 3 following games. That won't help Seibold's bid for a contract extension.

We have underachieved this year.

First of all the year is not over as yet and the Grand final is still in our Grasp

So far ....
We have a top 8 squad and we made the 8 and so we have met expectations and this is just a mere pass

Underachievement is to miss the top 8 as we did last season But not this season

Just like the bounce of the unpredictable NRL ball
Anything can happen between now and Grand final day
Lets take it one day at a time and Enjoy each day feathered friend 🙂

Simpkin has to be in 17 and preferably as the starting 9. I can see the concerns with his defence and it was probably one of the reasons he dropped out but he was pretty hard done by given we won 4/6 with him starting, one of those losses being the Souffs game where we had no one. I’m convinced Croker got his spot back because he’s a popular member of the team and there’s an illusion he helps hold the middle together defensively (with Jake) but it certainly hasn’t looked like it. Gordie showed some good flashes a few weeks ago but he’s also too flawed to keep in the team at this point in the season, I’d drop him solely for that horrific pass he threw at Brown on Thursday.

Really missed Talau and Lawton as well, two consistent performers with little differences between their best and worst games. The gap in quality between Lawton and Burbo seems to widen with each game they do or don’t play, Karl is going to prove a huge loss if we don’t pick up a decent back rower on that edge before next year. But adding these 3 back into the side makes us a much better team right now IMO

And what better time than now without their top player. Krillich’s words should be plastered around the change room and be ringing in the players ears. They should be stung by that loss to the Tigers and looking for redemption.
