'ex' Barrett's Bulldogs

too much good cop
Not necessarily.

His big ego means he will do what’s best for him, regardless of who stands to lose as a result...

He signed Kyle Flanagan from the Roosters and has basically hung him out to dry...gave him 5 minutes in the recent trial when his other halves were struggling.

He hung Hastings out to dry.

He got a lot of players offside at Manly in his time; Taupau being one of many.

He can be bad cop with the best of them.

as i was assuming my arse off thanks for the add

over the last few year hastings would have been a great fix to 6, 9, or 14. des would of loved him. interested to see him back in the NRL

its possible flanagan may outlast barrett in this stand off.

I wonder if Gus has been busy getting in the players ears pre-season, white-anting Barrett as part of a plan to get rid of him?

Barrett's coaching "ability" will require NO white anting from anyone. The results will speak for themselves.

All games as a head coach:

97 x NRL: 32–65–0 (33%)
24 x U/20: 12–11–1 (50%)
3 x Italy: 2–0–1 (66.66%)
2 x Country Origin: 1–0–1 (50%)

A grand total of 126 games. 47 wins, 76 losses, 3 draws (37.30%).

Or if you want to look at it another way, he has lost 60.32% of the games he has coached. To put it into some perspective ... Des, while only coaching in the NRL, has lost only 42.6% of the 465 games he's coached since 2004 (note: that total includes beating the Harlequins and Leeds Rhinos while Manly were in England for the World Club Challenge in 2009).

Having Gus and Barrett running the dogs is like watching an episode of Survivor. It would go like this, the plan is to take out Trent at tribal council, Trent knows that Gus has an Idol, and Gus said he'd use it to save him. Only problem is, Gus kept it in his pocket.....and didn't save him.

I always thought watching Barrett was a bit like watching Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em.

He coached us when no-one really wanted to. He had to be convinced from memory. Okay, we didn't get the results, but as soon as he left, the club got additional staff and now facilities.

Life's too short to wish ill of anyone. It's just not good juju.

Yeah agreed, but Barrett jokes keep this place very amusing and sometimes we could all do with a chuckle.

Barrett is the one that is laughing as he is the one being paid the big $$$. No matter what happens he will be ok. Given his past behaviour with our club in airing dirty laundry to the media and using petty reasons for blaming his lack of success on the club rather than his own coaching. I think we have every right to have a laugh at him and the bulldogs. I don’t see these posts as spiteful or vindictive. I for one will see the irony and humour in watching the Barrett hype balloon burst. At the same time I am happy to be impressed if he turns it around as long as they don’t beat us 🙂 again no matter what happens Barrett will be fine and should be the least of our worries. Let the games continue.

That really was a dark period for us, didn't Madge (Maguire) turn us down before we got Trent. Boy did we dodge a bullet !!
