Do we need Walker

Make Manly Great Again #Hasler2019
dylan walker is a quality player who hasn’t had much luck with injury since he’s been at manly. He would be on good coin but I can’t help but think we could save some cap space by letting him go.
Brian kelly is the most improved player in the club if not the whole comp and Suli is getting better every week and was close to our best Thursday night.

I won’t lose any sleep if walker stays but it might be a good option for the club.

Dally M Centre of the year in 2017, with his form obviously outstanding. Certainly see your point mate - probably couldn't make an informed decision before knowing how much coin he is exactly on.

We lack quality overall not sure it is the right time to get rid of one of the few quality players we have....unless you are looking to strenthen elsewhere

Walker, Turbos Marty and yes DCE have to stay and form the nucleus of the team to drag us out of this rut. I’m a believer. I also actually liked him at 5/8 this time around with his direct running, guy’s a weapon. In fact call me deluded but I saw enough in the wins we have had this year to believe the personnel we have now is fine. Just need direct running, a fair ref, a simple game plan and plenty of desire and we can move mountains!!!

Its an interesting angle.

If we cold pick up a quality player on, say $100K, less I'd agree.

Biggest problem we have it attracting anyone other than Nate Myles like players. The club, coach and the captain are on the nose to anyone isn't already here.

Super talent. Can break open a game on his own. Unfortunately can also lose it on his own with his mouth. His bluster was a big reason we lost the first final last year and also why we're losing without him for weeks now after inviting a broken eye socket.
Answer: Keep Walkz and get a coach who can get that out of his game.
Next question ...

Unlike other fan forms on this forum there is auto censoring of certain word like ****, ****, **** etc. I wish that we had auto censor when someone types "Nate Myles". I'd rather forget that he ever wore our jersey.

Only if it means we get a quality experienced half or a genuine up and comer (which is not easy to identify).

When Walker is on, he is dynamic so it would be a gamble; however, if Suli can step up and we use the money to get the right half, then yes. The right 5/8 is the most important recruitment objective we have in my view. Hodkinson is a decent stop gap, but that is what he is - a stop gap.

We have some up and coming backs in Suli and Anderson that can cover for Walker (if he was to leave) and Uate - Parker is another option.

As for halves, the only experienced half that has the ability, would work with Cherry and is likely to become available, is Norman. The problem is the off field stuff and whether he can turn that around.

The up and comer could be the young half from the Warriors Mason Lino and if this was an option, we may not need to shed Walker as he wouldn’t cost too much.

When walker is on he can blow a game wide open . A massive hole if he left . Losing Matai and lyon was tough and to lose a gun centre of D walkers calibre would be a shocker . Kelly and Suli are going ok for sure , but a D Walker they aint .

Its a sensible question when you consider a salary cap and our **** position. Kelly is progressing nicely, suli looks goodish . I would like to see him develop a pass or two. Sulis contract probably is the key to how this works out, dollars, length, and his keeness to stay

Releasing one player is always better than releasing 3

Succession planning is king, sometimes its well planned, sometimes you fluke it, but when you do like we have with suli , you should never waste it as its the way smarter than backending deals
