Would you buy a use car from Phil Gould?

Seriously, of course he is going to deny it. His side is fighting for a place in the top 8 (not helped by tonight's thrashing in Brisbane). The last thing he is going to do during the season is effectively give Hook the "full support of the board" treatment.

Damn it. SPOILER ALERT

Just thought I'd read this thread about a diff coach before watching replays of last night games. I should've known with this forum there'd be a random spoiler.

lol, at least it was just the broncos

**** mate, let's not get ahead of ourself. I'll take one solitary win!!

Want to hear something really ****ing scary? We've lost 10 of our last 13 games, and our players are happy as apple pie.
Yep, ****s me to tears

Make Manly Great Again #Hasler2019
I want:

Hasler - head coach
Tooves - assistant
Cliffy - assistant (focusing on attack)
Menzies - defensive coach
Ballin - fitness
Close.
You would have don Singe back there as strength and conditioning coach. I’d also get dave penna back involved. The bloke from
Our successful sides of 08 and 11 who I think has the footy brain to coach is Gift would love to see Des back and get gift there too

Rumours going around that it's already a done deal and madge will be at the helm in 2019. Dont kno personally if there's truth to it. I personally feel we need some change. Madge would be step in the right direction I reckon.

Surely not.

See what Seibel has done for Souths afta Madge ran them into the ground with over training and no new ideas in attack.

All that over training and no new ideas sure did work wonders when they were winning comps and making the semis.

The only logical response would be look at barretts/ cartwirghts resume before taking on the job.

Bottom line is that Barrett has not cut it!! The decision to dismiss Toovey due to it being results driven business has not applied here. You only have to look at how differently our origin players play when they are playing for us, I know its vastly different talent wise but the game plan is negative, we do not use our biggest weapon anywhere near what we need to do, our halves lack creativity and we are very one dimensional with our attack. I have defended Barrett for his tenure and the thing has made me change is his reluctance it seems to blood young players and he only did that as a last option. Our season was over 2 months ago effectively and we should have blooded guys like Tom Wright, Jade Anderson and others like Funa and Fainu to get them the vital experience they need considering we have no wriggle room in the cap and it is unlikely we will be able to sign anyone major due to the penalties imposed by Greenturd!!

Interesting Zorba article today, talking about goal kicking and ‘game management’ in last week’s game. In short missing the shot that hit the upright and not ‘taking the two’ from in front in the second half.

The knives are apparently out for someone. Is it the coach, or the captain?

I look at it a bit differently in that I think most coaches have a shelf life at a club. It’s probably about 5 or 6 years with the great coaches the exception (or the coaches that just happen to hit the jackpot with an unreal playing roster).

As for Madge, he took a youngish team at Souths and instilled hard work and discipline into the set up, which is precisely what a team of young players needs. His methods perhaps weren’t nuanced enough to adapt to the maturing of his team and Seibold, with fresh ideas and a new approach, is leveraging the education that Madge gave his players. I guess what I am trying to say is that, in my view, Madge set the groundwork for Seibold take the team to greater heights. There is no shame in that.

I like Baz and really would love to see him succeed. However, I think @strone33 (who I like to think is either Toovs or De$ ) has convinced me (kind of like @BOZO did with the tipping come earlier this year) that Baz isn’t the right coach for this team. This team is young and needs a hard head, disciplinarian as coach and Baz is not that. I think Madge is absolutely the type of coach we should pursue if Trent were to pull up stumps.

Knives are only out for a buffet with that idiot.

I'd take that turkey's thoughts and analysis with a grain of salt mate.

Penn's and Peters are the biggest issue at Manly. Not captain and/or coach.

Personalities aside . I agree with your view Quote "This team is young and needs a hard head, disciplinarian as coach and Baz is not that."
From what back ground of success can our coaching staff build a winning culture ?

He would be Sydney's premier Sunbird salesman...

I have mentioned it here previously that I suspect Glenn Stewart would make a good coach.

In regards to the whole origin comparison. In origin, surrounded by other elite players, you have a clearly-defined role to play and you don't deviate too much from it. Back in clubland, Cherry-Evans and the Trbojevic brothers probably feel they have to do everything, due to the fact there are so many sub-par players that they feel they have to make up for. This is less of a problem for the likes of Storm and Roosters, due to their stacked rosters and structure.

Madge also had the cattle and a good run with injuries [ usually the key ] in South ;s successful 2014 season . Not too sure if he could actually offer anything better at the present time . Most likely Barrett will still be at the helm coaching Manly next season so really think that any suggestion that he will be replaced this season is pure speculation . Have not been impressed with some of the team's tactics this season but still think that most of Manly's indifferent form this season can be mainly attributed to inconsistent player form and performance . The players still seem to be putting in for Baz , would certainly like to see a more settled and capable 5 / 8 but again think the reality is that Baz will still be coaching Manly next season and the ' Can do better ' reference should be applied equally to both the future coaching and player expectation and performance level .

It would be interesting to see every premiership wining teams playing roster over the last ten years and seeing how many injuries they had.

They say usually the team that wins, fields the smallest amount of players over a season???

Someone on hear surly could look this up, and post some stats. I’m hopeless at that sort of thing.
