I appreciate that. I'm direct and honest which are character traits considered to be both a strength and a weakness (especially in an ego filled NRL world where integrity and truth aren't prioritised). If I do something I will proudly own up to it but for media leaks, I can never be accused of that. My focus was on delivering a high quality pathways program and a pipeline of young talent of which we are now seeing the fruits of in first grade. Take it easy
A fantastic job one could say with the pathways program, some difficult decisions in how to retain the current quality of players that have been through the pathways structure.

This season hasn’t started the best for the junior sides, hopefully the setup and structure of the pathways continues to keep the club in contention for premierships.

Hopefully the door isn’t closed on a return sometime in the future when the dust has settled.

I understand unfair dismissal claims have a threshold. If you earn over 150k or there abouts you can not pursue this. I can’t imagine that the club would pay many of its staff above this threshold but would like to think someone running a very successful pathways program was. Not that it is any of our business to speculate on these personal type of matters. :)

There are other options @Birdman72 These can include (but are not limited to) General Protections, Discrimination and Breach of Contract claim options.....

The lower grade performances are hugely disappointing. Pathways recruitment was taken over by Crusher end of season last year and then his replacement. I understand that the club were heavily influenced by a persistent and vocal push by local junior club identities (some of whom are mates of senior club officials) to revert to prioritising local junior selection into the NRL pathways. Hopefully it remains merit based (like every other elite sport) or the standard will suffer even further resulting in limited player promotions to higher grades and the need to pay a premium for established first graders. Time will tell however the district has one of the smallest local leagues in Sydney so the club is already at a disadvantage, although the Under 16 age group has some promise. Expect NSW Cup though to find their feet given their squad. Wish them all well.

Agree, there could already have been an agreement made and subsequent deed of release executed, but frankly it is none of our business to ask or even speculate. It is a very personal matter.

Hope your son has a good game on the weekend. And his cousins.

The new coach Seibold may be a better communicator than Des.
Des could've been Mumbles on the Dick Tracy cartoon show.
Though, even with his raspy voice, Seibold may be easier to understand.
Des probably falls into the category of " Captain Grumpy".
I can still see KILLER reeling in shock as Des rips the change room door off its hinges.

-just stop. edited.

I grew up on The Northern Beaches, so I thought I should support The SEA EAGLES.
My way of thinking is that it is treason not to support them.
My father and brother thought that The SEA EAGLES. were too bourgeois, so they supported Parra & Tigers (Balmain).
The money stops at Balgowlah and restarts at Newport.
I lived in a Fibro house at Avalon.
I can still be a Socialist and support The Sea Eagles.

This has very little to do with the Seibold v Hasler topic I know.
Though, I can't resist a political analogy. - you're gunna have to. [mod]

Speaking of warm, genuine and sincere human beings, have I told you about the work Xmas party where I met Max Krilich...............
Lovely fella, made me sit next to him at his table, he's good for a chat.
Top Bloke, love ya Max.

Go MANLY!!!!!!!!!

To be honest , yes , respect what he did , but hated how he left , and wasn’t really a fan of what he did when he came back.

One good year , on the back of Turbo.

Otherwise , absolute garbage !!
Des has had two ugly departures from an organisation that I think he loves.
It must hurt him as a feeling human being.
As DEVO said on their song Gates of Steel " A man is real, not made of steel."
Love Ya Des.

@Kristie, any knowledge on how the step changes are being managed by Tooves now he is in there?

Some innuendo getting around with Latu given permission to talk to other clubs and Fletcher Myers on the move also?

Well this thread is ageing well.

We are sooooooo lucky to have an owner with such insight and a wonderful knowledge of the game. Bringing in Seibold has been a master-stroke.

Des who was the question after we won the preseason cup. The answer when we possibly win the spoon will be Des the coach we should have kept.

I can't believe there were people happy that we punted Des and signed Spoony. His sacking was just a power play by our most despicable owner.

Des had us finishing 11th and 13th in two of his last four seasons. I don't know he was the answer either..

It's really interesting why people just look at particular points to make an argument while completely ignoring the counter side of the discussion.

Yes 11th and 13th. Not great. But how about a semi final and a preliminary final in the other 2 years?

You can't just cite 2 of 4 years as evidence can you?

How about the fact that in the years when we did finish 11th and 14th there were reasonable outside influences at play?

Covid and V ball in 2020. We were a side designed to grind and in one rule change our side was ineffective. 1 year later that same side was in a preliminary final after a few tweaks and changes. And before you say it was all Tom..... 2019 we made a semi final without the golden goose so while yes he was awesome in 2021 so were most of the side once they got going.

your correct in terms of ladder spots but as manly fans its same **** different boss really

our footy didn't really see us beat anyone of note in that 3-4 year period. the final losses in 21 were meek .
2019 was better in finals but some time ago
a few bogey teams, some lower level top 8 candidates and some glamourous wins over many a spoon contender is who we are
yes i an being quite broad in this assessment

improvement hasn't really been evident over that time regardless of coaches

DEs had more upside than this **** show though. i feel for seibs though. its the star power that blinds people
when Penn and Des get together they kill manlys chances for years after they depart
im confident that will play out in our club again

both had plenty of time to reflect after the last didning on the Manly carcass they instigated

since Des left Tartak has become the 30th member in our top 30 and vice captain
Our squad just seems to be fodder
it would be better under des but never good. Thats on the players
this team doesnt deserve a coach like des really. too selfish

I also think Tom may become FOZ 2.1 on the goldy

There will come a time that even the most ardent manly fans will see is that he needs to get out of the manly fishbowl to find peace. daddy des man will be there

just thoughts

Thing is that 2019 was our best year and we have been heading in one direction since with 2021 representing a blip on the radar because turbo went nuclear and dragged the standard of players around him up… but the thing with 2021 is that at no point were we competitive with Storm, Rabbits or the Riff and whilst we over-performed by beating up on a lot of VERY POOR teams, we were always “best of the rest”…
In 2019 we lost a lot of games by under 6 points and had a side that did not quit, but since then we have had a team of blokes that show up one week and think that will keep the bills paid for the next month…

We currently DO NOT have a team of blokes with the drive, talent and intelligence to compete with the top sides and a bunch of good results against teams in worse positions than us has just papered over the cracks for the last 4 years…

It was heading south under Des and Seibs is failing to correct the slide to this point AND we have renewed (and upgraded) the contracts of a lot of our issues..
… we are screwed…
