[Resurrected] DCE is the worst halfback in the NRL

Footy is a team game. When the team functions as a unit, it is a beautiful thing. When things aren't going well...Well, it looks ugly.

We can't blame Chez for our issues over the course of this year. While he is our highest paid, and plays in such a pivotal positional, his time and space with the ball is dependent on how others hold up their end. No one can discount the effort that he puts in win, lose, or draw.

Am I the only one who thinks Dc needs to weigh more carefully how he comes across doing interviews?
Seriously perception is everything in this game and the last thing you want to do is give your opponents added motivation to stic-it-up-you
I’ve always been a Maroons supporter and we could have won SOO this year
But ! In a interview after our first rd win Dc started sounding cocky ....for ...sake ‘shut the hell up!’
And as we know the rest is history ...the following days after the loss he went quite as a mouse
I thought at the time as he slipped back into the grind at Manly this could work in our favour
Surely the experience of captaining QLD and losing would have taught him something Like choose his words carefully and not give anything away when he does interviews
But nooo..all I’m hearing is just more of the same
Conversely the boys do great interviews but Dcs unwitting comments will mean the team will have to wrk twice as hard
There a lot be said about dumbing things down

What? For years DCE has been criticised for being too careful and guarded about how he speaks to the media, and now you criticise him for not being more so! Poor bloke can't win.
I can just see the post game assessment by the coaching staff (if we happen to lose) - "Cherry you ruined it by telling the media we were intending to win, that was supposed to be a surprise"

Wow .... you have managed to isolate and identify the exact moment that caused the loss of a 3 game series ... and it wasn't even on the field ......

Can anybody tell me the comparative win/loss records for Captains talking their chances up as oppossed to giving the old best shot speech ......

I know we didn't make it to the prelims, or inside the top 4, but he has lead such a young and inexperienced side to great success that exceeded everyones expectations. AND he captained his state. I know I am so bias but surely no other captain has been so instrumental?

Been saying it all season walker has outplayed him and even croker at stages tonight (1st 20 minutes) he seems completely lost for confidence and scared to run the ball. Without walker and turbo running the plays dce has been exposed.

Dce has gone full myth mode..

Ponga will eat us alive next week if we dont make some changes.

I do enjoy threads like this

we are missing 4 out of 5 attacking options in Walker, Manise, Moses and Turbo. I ain’t no expert but that does make it easier to defend against when you know where all the play is coming from

DCE needs support, we have weakness in our 9 and 6. He will struggle without that and it makes you wonder if the decision to allow Api to go was the right one? Its unlikely that Fainu will be back this year and if at all depending on his court case. We need to get our future recruitment right for that position. Its a bad game today, harsh to blame DCE for all of it. He looks reluctant to take the line on and that was a trademark of his earlier in his career. AFB and Marty gave him a decent platform in the first 20 and he did not create a thing and after 30 minutes we were gone!

I'd drop Gosi for Sipley as well and start blooding Hopoate and Schuster as fullback alternatives.
