[Resurrected] DCE is the worst halfback in the NRL

Api is too nervy and jerky and this effects his passes. He needs to chill. Fainu looks cool and collected.

I think api would fail the passing game on Rex’s show, and fainu would win it.

The service that api gave last night had us on the back foot. They either lob and the bloke has to wait a split second for the ball, or he passes too hard. He even did a no look pass in the heavy rain, which really put the receiver under pressure.

I had high hopes with friend out that the roosters would stutter. But Radley and Aubusson did a good job unfortunately as dummy halves.

I actually see Fainu is a better poker player....the opposition has no idea what side of the ruck he will challenge, better still if he will get out and test the markers.
This in itself will light up the halves....DCE will again carve up and become a fan favourite.
My personal opinion - overpaid and this is his job to achieve the best market value....I still reckon he bust his gut week in,week out and is a super player...still need a better leader who players will respond to but that’s a different issue

There was s poster on here a young bloke turbo 1 who used to sing to the heavens that korisau was the best hooker in the game. He was a Trent man. He followed him from Penrith. And he’s a likeable character. He gives everything he has. I’ve never ever been on him but I’ve copped so much criticism for (not bagging him just saying he is a gun fourteenth man) stating the bleeding obvious since Parcel was let go, and that was his service is rubbish. I don’t know which poster on here said we would never get anywhere whilst Api was throwing rainbows but it’s so true.

He’s a first grade footy player. I’d love him on fifteen or ten minutes before half time smashing blokes and making scoots. I’d love to see him as a replacement nackbrower that despite his size let’s no one down. I’d love to see him as a stop gap five eighth if things go seriously pear shaped. But he is not a first grade 9.

I got pasted too for saying exactly that Top End. Like everyone I admire the guy but if anyone can tell me the last great hooker who can’t pass and doesn’t kick then I’ll be convinced.

The results and ad hoc headless chook stuff of the last three years is the result. We can’t waste another year.

I agree api could come on at lock. Would be damaging in attack and defence. Plus he wont need to pass much. Size doesn't matter either, look at cam murray for bunnies

Have been locked in heated discussion on here many times before about Api's passing. For me the hooker is the oil that makes everything run. If it's not right then it doesn't matter if you have a Ferrari V12 or a 2 litre datsun.
Way back in Barrett and Api's first year I was always banging on about his service for dummy half. Gone is our ability as a team to sweep forward with momentum. It seems 75% of passes from dummy half are either slow or behind the receiver which kills and momentum.
Last night with Api off we started to play so much better. Fluid fast plays which put the chooks on the back foot.
Keep Api on the bench as utility. He can cover dummy half or halves if needed in a game.

I still question to this day whether we got rid of the wrong hooker at the end of 2016. I feel Api got favoured more because he came from Penrith with Barrett and had a better relationship with him, and also because Barrett didn't want a running dummy half. But I also honestly believe now as I did then that we should have kept Matt Parcell and gotten rid of Api.

IIRC, Parcell came to Manly with a reputation of being a very good runner out of dummy half, something that he has been allowed to show with Leeds in the less structured play of Super League. But Barrett wanted a pedestrian forward pack, including the hooker and to that end, Api fit his bill while Parcell didn't.

And right now, TBH I would be starting Fainu ahead of Api. As others have already stated here, he reads the game a lot better than Api and his passing is superior. Api has a lot of heart and is a very good defensive hooker, but he stifles the attack with his low quality passing from dummy half, his lack of creativity in general play and his lack of a kicking game.

Criticism when he plays **** should be expected.
Dce showing how much of a myth he is today. Love how he has two average game in horrible weather conditions and he is labelled a myth. Great conditions players back and he was amazing. He will be one of manlys best ever halves

Last month hes been very average.. we have a great forward pack yet he barely gets involved and when he does its all predictable. Tonight he was shambolic and was the worst half on field.. out played by a kid... hes the qld and Australian halfback and our captain. Next weeks game will be a hoot dessie switching garrick was terrible and now paseka is out and possibly siro. Api is another whos horribly out of form, when hes on we are so slow and sloppy.

Jokes aside, he really has to cop tonight on the chin. Without our superstar attacking weapon, Tommy, and the senior cool head in Joel, it was crucial for him to step up and really lead this team. I am asking questions because I don't believe it's good enough to only shine when you are surrounded by stars. A captain needs to play a captain's knock when it is truly needed. DCE is yet to do that in my opinion.

Hes gone backwards.. his 1st few years he was amazing. Since foran left hes been on and off. Blake green was good for him.. he has patches of great games. That origin game last year game 3. Where is that dce? Where the hell is that guy he wanted the ball all the time he commanded it he lead his state and stood up and was man of the match. Where is this guy? He just lets walker do everything and hes new in the role compared to cherry.

I agree and have the same infuriating burning questions. You can't just command superstar bucks and slide out the back without questions. The last two weeks he disappeared and coincided with a horrendous fall from grace for the team. We were in the box seat to really threaten this comp. Now, we look more like the cows accidentally falling into a top 8 position. Two weeks ago we were literally a chance of third, realistically fourth. Tonight we are sixth with a worse record than Barrett's 6th. Sobering.
