I do have fond memories of attending the 7 July 2007 match between the Sea Eagles and the soon to be Freddies Roosters........56 - 0 to the mighty Eagles, we kick started Freddies coaching career that night.

Later, Freddie was seen leaving the MW Leagues Club in rather a hurry through the side door, but was still magnaminous enough for a photo op.....

They ranked the Origin players, combined both teams and ranked them 1 to 45. 1 (Latrell Mitchell) being the best player in the series and 45 (Jaydn Sua) the worst.

DCE Ranked 36th what a complete joke when you consider Mitchell Moses was 30.

Others ranked higher included Jack Wighton 29 and Api Korisau 28, Dale Finucane 21, Daniel Safiti 4.

Anyone ever heard of Neil Campton - he compiled the rankings. He must a cretin.

Sounds like the sort of “journo” that would say that Bellamy can’t coach because he lost three series straight, one of them 3-0.

I was thinking of his game against the Cowboys after Origin. But yes, good point, he tore the pathetic Bulldogs apart as well. I thought this thread is about DCE copping it in the media? No mention of Origin in the title.

I doubt any of this stuff would bother DCE much. He has a premiership, a Churchill medal, has captained Qld to an origin win, and he has a very large amount of money!
I suspect he developed a thick skin years ago, out of necessity.

A soo series win as well (2020) and has a loving partner and family.

Hopefully, as you suggested, he can compartmentalise the lazy, but populist journalism and their monkey provided anti dce rhetoric.

G'day All, For what it's worth,I help a mate out every year with some specialised maintenance work and was talking to one of the other blokes on the crew about footy. He said he wasn't a Manly supporter but in the course of his regular job he has interactions with several of the Manly players,including DCE.In his words "he wasn't an up himself w#nker like he'd been led to believe, but a really decent bloke.
For good measure he reckoned all three of the Turbo's were great fellas as well.

I remember when they we're giving Ben Hunt a flogging in the media and some of them come out and said to lay off him (mental health) but Cherry doesn't seem to get any relief always the backflip or paypacket , I think that is a big reason why I like him not very often you see him lose composer, origin was probably the only time

ive not seen a whisper about how well manlys halves went last game without dce. Foran, walker and schuster with a custy cameo and we looked as good around the halves as we have all year.

That is despite not having a recognised hooker and fullback.

The Gold coast really needs to get over what happened in 2015. If I remember around about that time Tedesco did the identical thing to the Raiders and you do not hear them moaning about it!

DCE is most dangerous when surrounded by creative attacking players and doesn't feel he needs to try to do it all himself. He does a lot of defensive work so when the pack gets dominated he gets gassed in defence. I have never been a believer that a half can do it all himself and JT's last season is proof of that. DCE will finish this season behind a dominant pack surrounded by the likes of Turbo, Foran & Schu. Here we go! Go Manly.

Just don 't get some of the over the top criticism of D C E , sure that it is not indicative of the overall League public . Fair enough to be critical of his occasional indifferent form but not as if he has been the only high profile player in previous times to have a bit of a form slump periodical or back flip on a contract . Really mainly concerned with his Manly club form and is going well this season after his poor i st four fixture games . No doubt assists his game big time and brings out his best to have the excellent game managers and creative players like Foz , Schuster and Turbo around him but whatever it takes to have him playing some good and top level footy for Manly .
