Just posted elsewhere that the rumour is he is being considered. He was the NZ hooker a couple years ago and carved up in the 9s. I hope we get him, playing behind a dominant pack and a quality side I think he would be the signing of the year and would massively offset the loss of Fainu. Not sure why people are saying he's no good????

Agreed. If we play Cust at hooker then we really only have 1 spare hooker/half in our top 30 in Croker. 2 injuries in those positions would see us using a rookie in Metcalfe, an untried player in ZDC or a makeshift in siro. There is no way possible we can go into a season so short in important positions. I actually thought we were short in playmakers even when Fainu was free... Now Levi or another specialist hooker is a MUST

Des will know, if Froggy or Custard aren’t yet ready then he might be the only back up with some experience.

And just why did they play Origin? Klemmer alone is extremely one dimensional in his play. Hit up, use knees. No passing, very little offloading (less than 1 per game in 2019). If he's running at the guy 2 players inside of you then you don't have to worry about doing any tackling on that play because he's rarely going to create any second phase play.

And Saifiti is actually worse. In 25 games played this year he had a grand total of 8 offloads. At least Klemmer had 23.

So why were Klemmer and Saifiti the ones chosen for Origin? Sure they are metre eaters and their defence is usually good, but there isn't much else to their game.

Fainu's running game lived off the offloads he got from our forwards. With Klemmer and Saifiti usually all Levi had to do was wait for the play the ball (if there wasn't a penalty). Who knows, with forwards like AFB, Marty, Siro etc who offload more often then Levi's game might also grow.

Of course, this is all hypothetical and for now unless someone else comes forward and is able to completely clear Fainu's name.....I'd say that despite the support he's shown Fainu, Des is probably working on either Cust or Croker as our hooker.
