Cue the numbnuts .. 1st in .. Bryce Cartwright

Given that I understand that our flu follows from the Northern Hemisphere ... does the fact that we are unlikely to see any flights to Australia from there in the next 3/4 months mean that we will have a very mild flu season ??
The infection rate in Australia is about 300,000 a year. There is no reason to think this will be dramatically reduced. Just saying we have put in place new norms that MAY reduce the rate of transmission.

I'm mates with a few doctors up here...we just spoke about this last night. They're hopeful this year will be milder.

Except the standard guidelines are to keep 1.5m away from people, which obviously can't happen!
I assumed that the key elements of the NRL plan were about isolation and quarantine, and was just curious if you (or anyone) had heard just what those guidelines entailed?
(I get temperature testing as an early detection strategy, although it was shown to be very ineffective at airports simply because people can be contagious without being symptomatic)
No worries, i'm sure we'll learn a bit more as each day goes by.
Apparently it runs about 40 pages. Heard a few of them but the only one I can remember is something about changing boots all the time - shoes to the ground can't be the ones in the gym can't be the ones on the field or something more confusing than that. Some players will definitely be challenged by it all.

Some people are allergic but good on him
I had my flu shot on Thursday. Hadn't had one for years and now remember why - been pretty sick since I had it and that jolted memory of how sick I was last time. Goodo!

I actually went to the doctor for a skin thing and heard a whole bunch of others asking for the flu shot and fell victim to FOMO - kinda like the chocolates at the checkout of the supermarket - dammit, I'll be having one of those too!!

what if .... what if the numbnut who doesn't get the flu shot gets the flu ... trains with the team ... and the day before the game 8 of the 30 players present with mild flu systems and are immediately stood down for testing and placed in isolation for the mandatory 48 hours ... and all miss the game becuase of numbnut ...
Conversely a player who did receive a flu shot could also show flu like symptoms and then be subject to the same procedure and measures .. Also would only assume that no previous precedent has occurred even in normal times and with a 30 man R L squad to prevent fielding a i st grade side run on side with a few players affected with flu like symptoms and really should not be any different now . . if selected players in the resumption of playing and on game day or day before do display no flu like symptoms , how or why should they be not allowed to take the field even if a few of their team mates for instance do have to have the standard virus testing and are not available with flu like symptoms . .

This is why I'm immune to everything...

I have never had an issue and have been having the flu (or if you read on here it s the flew) shot since I was mid 30's BUT in relation to you getting flu like symptoms after having it (again never experienced that but get told every year that I might) these would be extremely mild and last only a day or so, which means any player having them now would not be impacted by 28th May.

Already been reported in some countries that the overall death rate has declined in recent months and since the onset of this pandemic . No doubt mainly attributed to less social contact and movement , better hygiene and so on . Surprisingly the influenza rate in my local region of some 200 thousand people has actually increased in recent weeks . Guess that nothing can be certain or predictable in the current circumstances . ,

I never used to get a flu shot but about 3 years ago I got real crook and was off work for about 3 weeks. When I got back I was talking to a bloke I know and he told me I should get a flu shot every year because " you're not getting any younger", which was a bit weird as he was 91 at the time .....he also told me if I ever get drafted into the army I should join the band. I get the shot but I haven't been drafted yet.

If asking, conversing, and discussing doesn't work then some people need a temporary cooling off period which is unfortunate.

It's been said before, things may not always be perfect, but please respect the process.

There's people trying to stay on topic but others that just will not let things go. We'd like this to stay on topic or at least keep the personal stuff at bay.

Here's a list of fruit.

Mango
raspberry
black current

Why do some have capital letters and others not? We don't want capital letterist bastards round here either. You have been warned.

A subtle move from the elitist capital letter fruit to oppress the less fortunate lower case fruit through their manipulation of logic and language.

You just can't trust fruit mate ...

Raspberries ... are not berries
a banana is a berry ..
a pineapple is neither a pine or an apple .. lying buggers
a strawberry is not a berry ..
a black current is a berry
