Are experts on experts doubly overrated?

Overrated squared?
I had an uncle who was a Professor of Maths at TCD. He could prove without doubt that 1+1=3. He was considered an expert in both pure and applied mathematics but didn't know basic addition...

H. F. (Harry) Sandham (1917-1963) spoke on "The Perimeter of an Ellipse", page 65, Vol 2). He was a Dubliner who grew up in part in Sligo, and was a TCD maths scholar and graduate (BA 1939, MA 1941?). He taught first at QUB, then for over a decade at TCD. He also spent some time at DIAS, before moving to Nelson Research Laboratories (English Electric Labs) in Staffordshire. He was an active contributor to journals throughout his relatively short life, his name even appearing alongside those of Erdős and Polya, and he obtained his TCD PhD on "Products of the Hypergeometric Functions, with published papers" in 1957.

I like the recovery from adversity where a mistake or bad play used to turn into a 10 of 15 minute patch where we would bleed points.
Seem physiologically stronger to recover from these situations and get the heads straight back into the game.
This is an area of the game I have not seen since the premiership winning times, so is a great sign

And here I was pi$$ed that the Knights scored 6 points in the last 10.

Not only did we put points on but we leaked very little which is a huge improvement.

Poor Frizzell was doing everything for the Knights and old Cletus couldn’t find any points against us.

We have beaten great sides this year which is a credit to Seibs and the fact that he corrected his previous selection error of Humphreys says a lot.

He tried something with Trbo and it didn’t work so well so reverted. He kept Lehi in the squad and that is paying off big time.

He knows Talau can go well at centre so he switched it up.

He persevered with Garrick at centre and now has finally got him passing to Saab.

He recruited Simpkin and he has slotted straight in without missing a beat.

Froggy and Lodge now feel like depth players with only Paseka and Koula feeling like big outs.

The next two weeks are super important to wait for it wait for it….break the cluster otherwise it will be a cluster of a different kind if we miss the 8!

The Tits is going to be a real test. They have great form. Smashed the Warriors not that long ago. A great recent win over the Sharks.

In saying that. If we are to be a finals team. Then Tits is a team you just have to find a way to get it done.

But if anyone thinks this is an easy game this week. Ya nuts.

The forwards selected for the Newcastle match, especially the bench, had me worried. On paper there was no way we'd be able to hold the strong Knights pack. Not only did we hold them our forwards finished on top. Obviously Boldy had more faith in the forwards selected than I did. So, it's a tick from me. He was right, I was wrong.
This week it looks like Jurbo will play prop and Brown lock, although that's not how the team has been selected. That's a smart move, which again shows he's thinking about how to play different opponents. It's not just a plan to throw the ball wide regularly.

I thought earlier this season Seibold had done enough to get an extension for another two seasons.

Looking at where he would sit amongst other coaches is a decent guideline.

1. Ivan Cleary
2. Craig Bellamy
3. Wayne Bennett
4. Trent Robinson

The above 4 coaches have had decent performances and all won premierships coaching.

5. The below coaches I consider on equal footing, Ciraldo, Webster, Fitzgibbon, Flanagan, Seibold.

6. The next bunch, Stuart, Hasler, Walters, Payton.

7. The remaining, Obrien, Marshall, Barrett and Hornby.

It’s subject to individual opinion, from the above there are only four coaches above him and none on the market that would be above him.

He has very good communication skills and has held the playing group together, the consistency is building and he has done a decent job with bringing in younger inexperienced players.

Give him another two seasons (2027) and see what he can do.

Congratulations to the coaching team good game plan and selections. One quality Seibs has demonstrated is the ability to change tack with selections rather than being stubborn and locked in just to prove his point. I am pleased he had the side up and ready for a great performance against the Knights. This week will be a tougher test. The Titans have a big pack and very talented and speedy backline. Possession and discipline will be key We need to start playing smart footy in arm wrestle games and this one could be close.

Would Trent Robinson be in the top 4 if he didn’t have money bags at Easts?

Think you've sold Des a bit short there, if you're judging off his entire body of work. If your judging off recent performance only Des has more recent success than Bennett does (Although what Wayne has done with the Phins in the last 2 is very impressive).

I'm of the same view with Bennett.

The money follows the old bloke. He's won X amount of premierships yah yah. He had the entire origin team in the 90s. And only won how many!

Look In fairness he is clearly a good man manager and players want to play for the horse head.

But a technical coach. Yeah Nah.

Belly Ache by a mile for mine. And it's all about what he does with no bodies and reserve graders.

And Again Belly ache has money at his disposal. Storm juniors. A Manly coach could only dream of.

Now if Seibs could double the Sea Eagles salary cap with external payment. Im sure he'd look a much better coach too.
