Coronavirus sucks.. but the NRL lives!

It's the fear of the boomers, they're the ones in line to take a trip to see their maker, without the 3 houses they bought for $1500 40 years ago which they rent out for$509 a week while complaining gen y won't give them double that price a week for the slums they have, they be like'i never knew hardship so let's make up stories about your grandparents'

It'll only take 0.4% of gen y, the chronically ill ones while the boomer it's 1 from 5, hope it only picks the slumlords
Where could you pick up a house for $1500 40 years ago? A ghost town?

I'm really cranky about this. I think that it is so irresponsible of Todd Greenburg and the NRL.
Can someone please give me an honest justification for the NRLs reasoning behind allowing crowds in this weekend but not from round 2?
The line that gets trotted out is that the health and welfare of the players and supporters is paramount. I guarantee that the health and welfare of players and supporters is not at the forefront of the decision to allow crowds in this weekend.
It's shutting the gate after the horse has bolted.
Every other sports bans have been effective immediately, but not the NRL. Why? Because its run by a muppet.
I got an e-mail overnight saying that my kids basketball has been suspended effective immediately.
If Todd comes out today and now bans crowds for this weekend, it'll be the right decision, but he'll look like a fool.
If just one person comes out positive, from any of the games across the weekend and someone will, he'll look like an even bigger fool and he'll have to go.

I've been looking forward so much to Sunday's game but things have changed too fast
#socialdistance really should be in effect from now

Much info coming out each day including some misinformation and plenty of misdirection.

For what its worth I was referred to this article overnight by a scientist announcing cancellation of a science event planned for Sunday:

Thank goodness for that. You dont wish this virus on anybody

They already said as of round 2 the fans will be shut out for player safety. The games will go on in front of empty stadium. Hopefully they add crowd vocals to the games on tv because it's going to be very very weird without them.

Yeah I saw that its a fan lock out.

This is changing so quickly I would not be surprised if they follow the northern leagues and suspend rd2 or after rd2 if it's a fail.

I can imagine some kid with a novelty keyboard playing crowd cheers throughout the game. @:D

Be very surprised if a suspension isn’t announced very soon!!

So much happened yesterday in one day, more will happen today.

Maybe we be like China , bunker down for a few months.

Good luck with that. The boomers will go down fighting and likely harvest your organs on the way.

If we're not careful, this is the way things will go here.

My older sister lives in Seattle with her husband and 3 kids. The kids school has been shut down until at least 24 April, same with my sister's and brother in law's work. Right now other than for things like going to the shops to do the grocery shopping, they are essentially in a lockdown. The kids schooling and their work is all being done at home (its been like that for the last week and I can tell you they are already driving each other nuts lol).

Update to club members

You may have heard by now that mass gatherings of more than 500 people have been cancelled from this coming Monday, which is the advice that has just been announced by the Federal government.

Based on current advice, it is likely that, beginning in Round Two, all NRL Premiership matches will be played behind closed doors.

We will now need time to assess this situation before providing further communication to Members, so we appreciate your patience while we work through this unprecedented situation.

Now, as much as ever, we value your constant support and understanding. Rugby League is known for its resilience and we know we will work through this together.

We would ask that you hold tight and await further information, as we won’t be able to provide any answers over the phone or email at this point.

We will be in touch again via email once we have further information to share with you.

#ManlyForever

Assuming they even go ahead it will be interesting to see if any of the remaining round 1 games attract a healthy crowd.

Exactly. My parents built a place on the northern beaches in 1967 for $10,000. Sounds cheap but my dad was on about 180 a week at the time

My first house ( 1975) , $25,000

My weekly wage , $75, my wife’s $60, house repayments $40 per week, I owned my own car a clapped out 1070’s Holden.

We had virtually nothing in the house, a double bed ( wedding present ) , a laminex table and four chairs ( wedding present) and that was it.

In 1977 , and unexpectedly, our first daughter arrived . My salary at the time $105 per week.

I had to take a second job on pumping petrol on the weekends just to get by.

It honestly pisses me off when the younger generation whinge about us Boomers , don’t forget we were still paying a house off with EIGHTEEN PERCENT INTEREST thanks to “the recession we had to have”.

Yes we’ve been “ lucky” but **** me we’ve done the hard yards too which is something Millenials know nothing about.
