Coronavirus sucks.. but the NRL lives!

Don't sell! Repeat, don't sell 🙂
In fact I'm sure plenty of rich people will make a killing buying while prices are so low, happens every time there's a crash

Been in the market since 1982. The difference this time is sadly I don’t have enough cash to splash out and buy more. As you know you can’t live on bank interest so we have about 80% shares , 10% long term
Bonds , 10% term deposits.

I can call on a TD if the dividends don’t keep me going.

Don’t worry no way I’m selling anything.

Agree Ella.

Scary for us middle 60’s and I’ve as well ,especially as I’m an Asthma sufferer so I’m in the prime danger zone.

We were going to Melbourne next week to see grandkids , that’s going to be postponed .

The worlds gone mad!!
I will be going to see my doctor on Monday to chat with him as I have type 2 diabetes but I refuse to panic at the moment

Problem is ... some businesses just won't come back .... just read flight centre closing 100 stores ... all businesses large and small will take a pasting .(except loo paper makers) ..... and many won't survive .... then you have all the people who have lost jobs defaulting on mortgages .... If this goes on for another month it will make the GFD look like a picnic ....

Go for gold Mark ....

Too late mate , I’ll just sit it out and hopefully it’ll go back up within a few years.

Just for clarity on mortgage defaults, banks are obligated to provide hardship provisions for multiple scenarios, including loss of employment which includes payment moratoriums. The regulations have changed substantially since the GFC in 2008 to protect consumers. The issue on mortgages will be erosion of equity if the property market declines, there is no protection for that unfortunately.

Thanks for that info .... am I correct in thinking that many people today don't have a lot of equity to start with ? .. and that many only just cover Interest in their repayments .... the moratoriums could end up seeing them owing more than the house is worth ??

I look at it this way Mark, we have lost all of our gains that we have made in the last 16 months.
As they say, you buy when everyone else is selling, if you have no reason to sell now you may as well ride it out, because the horse has bolted .

There is a high proportion of home owners whose equity is purely the initial deposit, that can be eroded very quickly.

the remedial program offered can include a hold on the interest charges, or capitalisation of the arrears but predominantly it involves a payment holiday (i.e. no payment for X months) . It varies from applicant to applicant.

I also have diabetes (tablet prescription, not insulin injections), but the danger is in visiting the doctor surgery. I have to attend in less than 2 weeks for my 6 month script. I'll be either making a specific appt or wait outside until my name is called. The surgery I go to is usually packed. As far as catching the virus with diabetes, I think you'll be fine if your general health is good.

Events over 500 will be banned....from Monday.
'cause scomo's got tickets to see the Sharks 🙂
(And Brian needs more money...I mean prayers for jebus)

With ScoMo recommending all activities involving crowds, other than schools and public transport, of over 500 persons should be cancelled, I suspect this is approaching a bleak RL season, though I think the games will go on, but without the crowds.
