Coach Seibold thoughts so far.... so good

You clown. I said his old man Hoppa Sr deserved most of the credit for his development, maybe read what I said before second guessing my posts. You made it seem like Seibs picked him up from nowhere like no one had heard of him. Maybe the fact that his brothers have already played NRL might give you a hint as to who is responsible for their development. I'd love for you to tell your contrast of opinion to Hoppa Sr' face when it comes to his son's development.
Hey SE 23
I have had yaks with old man Hoppa and he speaks of Seibs in a good light
Also had discussions with Ex and current players around accountability of coaches versus players influence and visions and planning for year ahead

If you don’t think the pride Guernsey had an impact or potential to succeed or the DCE announcement had a impact you need to re think

Both events were unexpected , un planned and out of control of the coach

Not sure if your intentionally white anting but you are ill informed and don’t seem like someone I would rely on in my team or club

If your opinion is genuine , I respect it
If it’s not , find something better to do
I am optimistic that we may have settled a bumpy ride and just might hang in there despite our criticism of coach and players
But I have felt this way for over 50 years

Go Manly says
Go manly

Not white anting. Passionate Manly fan for 30 years +. Call me a bit old school. But I like the Manly DNA to remain in the coaching ranks. Its nothing personal against Seibold, Manly has always had Manly DNA in their coaching. When it comes to Hoppa's kids, I reckon Hoppa Sr is largely responsible for their successful development not Seibold. We have had Peter Sharp in the past, didnt work. It's always taken an ex Manly player to bring it back and the stats prove it. I respect your opinion though.

My big problem with Tom going back to FB is that it pretty much ensures Reubs returns to centre as you can’t throw young Loppa in there at the back end of the season with no gameday experience…
Imo Tom is better at FB but Reubs is our best winger and we need Loppa in the team (and thankfully he is a bloody good FB)…
If Tom goes back to fb then I wouldn't mind seeing Talau going to centre with hoppa potentially taking saabs spot... but agree Ruben should remain on the wing!

this idea that one person has been responsible and/or should be credited with a player’s development is a fallacy in itself. Every player lands in FG, having a history of junior coaches, sometimes dating back to u/6s. Many typically have fathers who love the game (often why the kid is registered in the first place) and drive them to matches on weekends and talk shop, etc.

Once they make NRL, the baton is handed to the coaching staff and the journey continues. So who really cares if it was his Dad or u/12s coach, or schoolboy footy coach, or Seibold that’s had the most influence…it changes nothing. He’s playing in a demanding position at a very young age and doing a fantastic job; he has a long list of people to thank for helping him get there.

Agree… but NONE of those get blamed when the player has a sh*t game…

NRL coaches really are on a hiding to nothing..

It's ok Woodsie, Im sure Seibs loves your vote of confidence.

Is that a photo of all the poor juniors you say have not been given their righteous NRL debuts by Seibold?

Or just another attempt at taking the focus away from your inane comments ...

Get this:

Nearly 3/4 way into the season...
Manly ranking 7th in attack
3rd in defence

3rd in defence!!! (admittedly conceding only 1 point fewer than Panthers and Wahs, yet… 3rd!)

This is unlikely to be a fluke. In fact, clearly a plan of the coaching staff. For years we’ve all said defence is the main thing we need to improve, although there’s been different theories about how to do that.

Could this be why DCE is leaving? He was told we’ll only be offering a reduced deal, in part because we want him to play a far simpler, safer style so that we can play a pressure game. Less ad lib risky brilliance. As Manly’s greatest ever star (maybe in his own mind?) this was a big insult, hence, “Seeya”.*

Regardless – if Manly can keep working on this high possession, low error rate formula, we’ve still got enough firepower to beat the best. And that style is so much better for my heart rate!!

*mere guesswork/conspiracy theory by me 😊

Unfortunately Talau misses out for me.

When our attack is humming, Saabs speed is invaluable for our right side shifts.

The trouble is ( with the ASC) if you quote logic , or facts , they can’t handle it , call you out for accepting mediocrity , and throw stupid memes up instead.

I can’t see what was posted as that’s one of the accounts I now have on block , but I bet I’m not far wrong.

But don’t worry , lose this week ( which could well happen as I just can’t see this team being UP like that two weeks in a row) as the Seidud crew will be back out in force.

Only perfection ( never losing a game ) and a GF win will put them back in their box.

Yeh the funny thing is none of us think Seibold is awesome.

He's an ok coach.

but hey if you point out he's ok and not the world worst coach then you are a fan boy.

I remember the first couple of months of Seibs time at Manly saw a marked improvement in our contract; it was brutal and I thought we’d turned a corner in defence. For whatever reason, we couldn’t sustain it for too long into the season. The last few weeks have been as close as we’ve come to getting back to that style. There’s a real emphasis on line speed in yardage defence and the contact can be brutal at times. This type of approach requires serious discipline to be effective when intent spills over into ‘going early’ or ‘high tackle’ penalties. I’ve been so impressed with the discipline in our approach to restricting the opposition’s go forward.

Yeah I’m no massive fan either and I agree he’s not one of the “ elite “ coaches , but he’s not as bad as they portray , and as I bang on about it’s not just the coach ( he’s just the front man) it’s a whole footy department that runs the group.

But yeah I’m supposedly his biggest “ fan boy “.

It’s a real change of direction ( in the positive ) and has been evident for the last month or so.

I think it’s trying to work with our limited positives ( forward wise ) and adapt a style that’s pretty risk free but frustrating for our opposition.

I wasn’t surprised seeing it work for the teams under us , the fact it worked against the front runner was very ****ing impressive

I get the feeling that Seibold's real niche is as a "football Dept" manager .... the bloke that oversees the complete football operation in a ... "The Manly Way" type role.

I believe this is the basis for his reported position of standing aside for the likes of Ennis to come on board as Head coach in charge of the actual player coaching and game tactics.

Not a big fan of this arrangement normally ... ego's usually get in the way ... but I think Seibold could probably make it work ..
