After all that has happened in the past few weeks at Manly and at Parramatta (and not for the first time in recent years are: Turbo), there are still those who think ‘we made the right call.’

Extraordinary
Yeah we did.....Trbo humble, fantastic player, team player, great fullback, great 3/4.......Queen Gutho arrogant, whining every chance he gets during a game, nowhere near the quality of Trbo, will never play for NSW or Australia. One year wonder!

Mate how can you judge whats happened in the last few weeks to whats happened over the last few years? We had snake and turbo. Gutho had done two acls... turbo went on to play origin and for Australia. Extraordinary you see it like this.. we sold him like 4 years ago right? He's won a spoon since then.. twice was it or just one? Sure hes doing good now but only because turbo is injured you even notice him.. turbo is twice as good as gutho

**** gutho he did two acls and didnt play more then 5 games in a couple of years. We made the right call

Seriously ?

He'd be a better 6 than anyone that we have and that includes Walker.
Not to mention he is streets ahead of anyone we have in the goal kicking department.

Sorry BBTB. But you've got this one wrong.

No he’s not! Garrick pi$$es on him as a goal kicker! Look at the stats & see the difference! One year wonder & arrogant to boot! Thank God he’s gone!

Garrick isn't a goal kicker's a*shole.
He nearly missed the conversion of DCE's try.

He's been crap for the last month.

Another interesting stat is that Clinton Gutherson has won 53% of his games so far with 53 wins and 47 losses.

Tom’s current win percentage is a little over 48% with 46 wins and 49 losses

You know Gutherson personally? Why would he hang out with a 12 year old?

We might revisit this after he debuts for NSW this year. Shall we?

Let’s break it down:
‘We had Snake and Turbo’. Snake was clearly nearing the end in 2015, hence why Toovey in his wisdom re-signed both younger players. Gutherson’s new contract was reputedly for $150k at the time.

‘Turbo went onto play Origin and for Australia’. Barring catastrophe, Gutherson will play SOO later this year and is clearly of international standard. Nothing extraordinary about it.

‘He’s won a spoon since then’. Yes in 2018. Where did Manly finish that year? One spot ahead of them. Oh and Turbo was both a SOO and international player by then.

‘...because Turbo is injured you even notice him’. Only if you have had your head buried in sand in recent years. He has clearly been Parramatta’s best for several years now.

Gutherson who appeared just once in 2015 (his fifth 1st grade appearance), has now played more 1st games than Turbo, who debuted in 1st grade that year. In fact Gutherson’s 95 games for Parramatta since Round 1 2016, means that he has barely missed a game since his last ACL injury in March 2015. Ironically, that was at Parramatta and significantly, before he signed his last Manly contract. Clearly Toovey and others still saw a big future ahead of him.

Finally, you can’t be serious that ‘Turbo is twice as good as Gutho’. The former has only recently (circa his Origin debut in 2018) overcome his serious defensive deficiencies.

Notionally Turbo might be the better player, but right now he is like a 5-litre V-8 engine sitting on the blocks. Meanwhile Gutherson is playing turbocharged (do you like that one?) football for Parramatta.

Nice break down at 620am mr terry :) did you just wake up or are you going to bed?

We had lots of good players and we couldn't afford to keep them all. I agree we should of kept gutho but i also understand why they let him go. He played a handful of games in a few years. Turbo has always been twice the player, gutho is good and getting better with the pack parra bought but he will never be as good as Tom. Hes been one of parras best because they were garbage. There best player was a winger for years! Its hard to judge the club on letting him go when we had all these players even hiku we had to let go. Too many good players Tezza and we were flush for backs.. we needed forwards if i remember correctly and we bought many a dud ie mateo and burgess :( ****ing willie mason..... seems you set on gutho being a better player then turbo and more valuable. We will see... i watch every eels and manly game and tommy craps on gutho and all the personal battles hes beaten him. Gutherson goes missing in lots of games and can never have an effect on a team like turbo can. Now good nite

As stated, I like Gutho, wanted to keep him, but Terry you keep saying Gutho will play Origin this year and I personally cant see it.

Where does he make your side?

The most likely spot - utility back, noting he can cover anywhere from 1 to 6 with ease.

With possible injuries to others, a starting position.
Yeah fair enough, I could see a shot at the 14 jersey if NSW go for a utility on the bench.
Note they didnt last year with Wade Graham being one to give flexibilty off the bench with Wighton and Turbo in the centres being able to move about.

Definitely a chance though.

Cant see him starting without mass injuries though

We’re singing from the same song sheet.

You only have to listen to the commentators, which crucially includes the NSW coach (who had him in an extended squad last year), to know that he is on the cusp of selection.
