Struggled to watch the full game. Walker looked decent enough in attack but nowhere near Tom in defense. Didn't see him stop anyone 1 on 1. Which he needed to because Garrick isn't first grade material either in attack or defense. I was surprised looking at the squad as I thought we got rid of Garrick in the off-season.

We looked like serious contenders before the six again was introduced, and since then we have just looked all over the place.

Foran looked good from what I saw, the set-up for Garrick was vintage

DCE - can't find a good high percentage play too often, so goes for low percentage options. Other times it's just unforced errors.

Jake not doing $900k/year worth of work, Des needs to figure it out or ask the board to hire a specialist who can

Tom needs to be injected with whatever the Roosters are putting into the Morris twins

Garricks has to be first to go. I cannot tolerate his missed conversions and weak defense any more. I'll take anyone to replace him, even Funa.

Funa in for Garrick, Walker back in centres for Parker, Harper to fullback, DCE to hooker, Foran to 1/2 and Schuster where he should be, at starting 5/8 .... and dare I say it .... we missed AFB big time

Unfortunately the reality is not just a club in decline but a club on its way out of the NRL.
What Todd Greenberg created destroyed this club as he continually executed his wish right until the decision in the semi final versus Souths in 2019.
Since then, dead and buried.
Des has his heart in it, and he will try and turn this around. I admire him for that, but it appears to me Manly as we know it is on the way out, and we don’t have the cattle, and certainly not the heart in these players to be able to turn this around.
Very sad times for rugby league.

Ha, note that was posted at 5.20pm, I then turned my phone off and some 15 hours late have only just turned it back on. As I said I would do I avoided the game dar thread ( during the game).

And pleased I did!!

After Des presser yesterday I,'m extremely confident of a loss. The question is will we be competative and lose by 10 or not and lose by 30+. Looking at the 3 games so far we cannot compete at that pace with the plodders we have. I won't be watching it this arvo thank goodness Chooks by 36.

Yeah ok watched the highlights and most of those tries were extremely, embarrassingly soft.

I get it was a hot day, but screw making excuses for this lot out of respect for their feelings etc. Every team needs to be fit now, and every team knows it. Over it. If they can't cop criticism after a highlight reel showing that, then they can get out of the maroon and white.

The defensive efforts on display in those highlights were simply pathetic.

I'd give them next week to turn it around, and if that level of humiliation doesn't motivate them to a better showing next weekend, then mass changes should be on the cards - and if they aren't then i'll be moving to the Sack Des Hasler thread for next comment.

And the NRL wants to add more teams. That will spread the playing talent even thinner & under the current NRL touch footy rules, the gulf between the best and the rest means most matches are one sided bores.

The NRL needs not just a salary cap to even up the teams, but also onfield playing rules that actually deliver NRL games that are competitive and are actually worth watching.

Getting rid of TPA's would be a good start

The worst thing is I can’t see this team in the current form beating any NRL team.

Wouldn't surprise to see 3 or 4 of these challenging all comers to races down the Corso next week.........

Loss like that can happen. It's about how you react to it next week. If they have another similar game.. then they are done. That loss was more attitude than technique. You won't see DCE play that bad again. I don't rate DCE but that was even below his usually average performances. We didn't have many trials and considering how many new combinations we had.. maybe we should have.
