That stat has nothing to do with anything with regards to manlys performance

I agree with you and I wasn't saying that those stats had anything to do with the end result. I was only reporting a stat in the form that people wanted it reported last year as in what was the tackle count when a Set Restart was called.

Hey Damien, didn't rate Souths last night, next week won't have T Burgess. They will still beat us. Seriously we are looking at 4 or 5 losses from 7. Be prepared guys and girls. Other teams have moved on - we are still where we were at last year with 4 weeks to go.

I agree with your assessment. I didn't watch Souths play but with the calibre of players Souths have and the poor effort against the Rorters It's a recipe for disaster.

And the NRL wants to add more teams. That will spread the playing talent even thinner & under the current NRL touch footy rules, the gulf between the best and the rest means most matches are one sided bores.

The NRL needs not just a salary cap to even up the teams, but also onfield playing rules that actually deliver NRL games that are competitive and are actually worth watching.

I admire a coach who defends his players but he should have thrown himself and his team at the mercy of all and sundry.

There were ZERO excuses, plausible, sensible excuses that could have been offered to defend that rubbish.

Tonight was a case of the ENTIRE GAME surpassing OUR club, not just on the field and not just this first game but stand back, evaluate the performance of our club as a WHOLE from Round 7 2020.

The word apathetic springs to mind and reinforced this evening.

As a professional working on the periphery dealing with players and other clubs, we are lacking REAL investment, both monetary and intelligence.

I'm absolutely devastated tonight and would have some level of comfort if I could see some improvement ahead.

I'll be back next week to support the team but I'm not going to glaze over the obvious, we are a club in decline, on par with the Dragons in so many ways it's quite scary.

We have the backs......problem is super coach Hasler refuses to give them a chance. Just watched the Panthers demolish the Cows.....so many youngsters in their backline & forwards showing what youth & enthusiasm does. We have a superstar in Schuster but he’s not good enough to get a game whilst Parker & Garrick will still get selected next week.....& the week after & the week after!!!! Olakau’atu another one, Saddler another one. Can’t believe Des is so stubborn. I was happy he came back but I think he’ll be the first coach sacked in 2021. He can take Monaghan with him. Sorry but I’m so disillusioned with the club in general......Des just doesn’t seem to give a $hit anymore & the players can see this. No wonder there’s no passion anymore. WTF has gone so wrong since the teams efforts in 2019? They played with passion & defended with pride! Now they don’t seem to wanna be there. DCE’s contract hindered our recruitment a little bit the Trbo bros retention was a big mistake. Tom I think is worth his price tag, as for Jake? Well to me he’s totally overrated & not worth anymore than $400k a season. Compare him to Isaia Yeo & his contribution to the Panthers. Jake is in the bottom 2 or 3 lock forwards in the premiership. In fact I doubt he’d start in any team the way he’s played & playing. The team needs an injection of youth & I don’t believe Des is the coach to do this. He needs to make hard decisions & drop the likes of Parker, Garrick, Sironen, Gosiewski, Croker.....

Unfortunately the reality is not just a club in decline but a club on its way out of the NRL.
What Todd Greenberg created destroyed this club as he continually executed his wish right until the decision in the semi final versus Souths in 2019.
Since then, dead and buried.
Des has his heart in it, and he will try and turn this around. I admire him for that, but it appears to me Manly as we know it is on the way out, and we don’t have the cattle, and certainly not the heart in these players to be able to turn this around.
Very sad times for rugby league.

Just hope from the SCG and what a horror show dished up!

My greatest fears confirmed, players out of position been found wanting time and time again. No aggression in defence, back pedalling defenders being toyed with by their opposition.

Six tries coming directly from turnovers and next set concede.

Abject failure in dealing with defensive kicks cost us dearly, try 1 was a joke, no one bothered to challenge Tedesco.

Our left edge defence was feeble, Garrick constantly caught out of position and Parker had no confidence in him in dealing the Rorters rampant right side.

DCE and Foran exposed time and time again as we go into this game and this season without a recognized 9. When is this folly going to end in relation to our 9???

It is only game 1 and for me it was just a repeat of the last 10 weeks dished up last season.

Surely next week. You put Walker at 4. put Funa on the wing and play Harper at full back. Schuster and Cust MUST come in. Croker offers very little and Cust is more direct and creative and its Schuster time.

A message to the coaching staff, grow this team or perish!! They cannot afford to stick by failures and reserve graders.

The truth today is the Rorters were about 75 percent of their capacity and they just toyed with us!

The only positive is that this horror show is over, lets see what happens on Tuesday night, surely something has to give now!

It should have been 50. The Vidiot ruled a no-try against the Rorters which certainly looked like a try to me.

I too was at the SCG and saw our abysmal performance. After the first 15 minutes, the best way to describe it was they just toyed with us and had a field day. I didn't expect such a woeful display in round 1 and dread the weeks to come if we don't have any changes - with the team, effort and attitude.
