Des Hasler had a testimonial year in 1993, when it was believed he was in his last season at Manly. Of course he returned in 1995-96.

Just highlighting that it is not a new concept that merely favours modern day players.

Hopefully this is the straw that breaks the camel’s back, with V’landys taking over from Peter Beattie and asking for Greenberg’s resignation. I imagine some of the senior club powerbrokers like Politis and Pappas (noting that the latter’s club has been leading the charge against the Storm’s tactics) will increasingly see Greenberg as a liability who has outlived his welcome.

That’s probably enough to keep a struggling country RL club afloat for a season. Or go towards further studies into the causal links between concussion and the incidence of early dementia in rugby league. There are many better ways to spend money.

On the other hand, he owes the game everything - his sporting and social status, with adoring fans like Roy Masters and Walid Aly carrying on like he walks on water; his wealth and his notoriety (both good and bad).

.... and given the countless junior and country clubs that are literally kept alive by the tireless efforts of many women volunteering their time and energy for no reward .... the NRL .. (read GreenTurd) ... decided to gift the wife of a bloke earning about $2mil a year from the game with a diamond ring ... for the outragous reason .. of simply being married to him ..... FMD .... this whole thing is grotesque .....
