A trade that would make no sense to me, which probably means it'll go ahead. But I still don't get it.

We don't have much cover at centre, and while Harper might have slipped down the pecking order, he's still a solid option with NRL experience. We have plenty of cover in the back row - more players than we probably need. So why would we make a trade that would really only help Parramatta?

I agree Feathered friend

If your pack is not feared Your team is fcked
Every team needs a hard nut mongrel and you want the opposition runner changing direction on site . So yer ole mate fits the bill 👍

I am not that keen on it either but just looking at the current situation at 13 and Jake now most likely to be or fair chance at prop now . Who for the 13 , Keppie , very unlikely , Zac Fulton not quite ready , Bulemor , i like the prospect but maybe a bit more experience needed there , Samual Fifita , very promising but again a bit more time to develop . Schuster , 6 unless things do not pan out and next best option for him . Don 't need Brown as a prop , nor 2nd row just maybe as a 13 , then his current price tag , would not rate him as even a 300 - 350 k level player for Manly and then his injury woes . On balance probably just not worth it literally including enhanced player value on the footy field

Aggression is the fuel in the pack and Intimidation is the fire feathered friend
We need our pack to Fire up this season
and I do not mean friendly fire

Everyone knows I like a big man with some Aggro, see my comment in the Keppie thread for example. But Halfback Specialists like Brown, who wasn't exactly setting Parra on fire last year which is why he was dropped until they ran out of options, are not the answer.

Nothing wrong either with playing tough but not harsh, like Jake. I seem to recall a well-known Manly player whose nickname was literally Sorry since he was so polite, and he had an OK career if I recollect.

I wonder how Brown went in last year's grand final by the way?

Nathan brown dabbles with Mexican dancing powder in men’s restrooms. We don’t need a headline.
No no no,he had just bought a house and was celebrating the purchase with mates but had a bit too much.Or did he get food poisoning and had to go to a cubicle for a chunder, with help from a mate?

Manly have plenty of options that can play centre and we have no decent depth in the forwards. No brainer Manly should try to complete this swap.

harper has no standout to his game, he is a dime a dozen centre, we have plenty of cover at Centre now with Weekes, Parker, Koula, Ben Turbo, Myers. Brown on his day offers an X-factor mongrel that has been severely lacking in our forward pack. He could play the role of enforcer until someone like Zac Fulton gets a bit of size and experience. Its a good move in my book. We won't miss Harper and Brown could be a decent gain.

It's a yes from me if Doesn'tmatta covers the difference. Harper is a good defensive centre but average in attack. Realistically he's behind Koula, Parker, Garrick and is no upgrade on Weeks and probably Myers. As others have said I think Brown brings that harder edge that out pack is missing and could be a good mentor to instill that in the young brigade, similar to what BK did in the couple of years he was here.

There are times when Harper has brain explosions & at those times I'd swap him for some scammy 4 magic beans deal. (I'd Let them keep Brown also)
Koula needs to be the first centre chosen & he needs a new centre partner if Garrick doesn't work out - perhaps Weekes?
