I love Jake
Met him personally and was the most humble bloke you could ever meet
But I see Browny the monster to change a game both, with hard runs and big hits and shoots out the line in defence and Wins....plus he has super ball skills
Brown is the man to gov us a legit shot to beat the big dogs - I rate him big time and every time he takes the field momentum runs our way

I first met Nathan at a cafe I used to eat at in North Parra when he played for the whingers. I remember rumours about him coming over in 2022 and he went to the chooks instead.

Humble bloke and really easy going and what an asset he has been to our team this year!! We now have that hard head who is no nonsense and he leads the younger fellas in our pack really well!!

Brown is my first choice at number 13 every week. Brown plays with speed and passion. What he does is contagious. He has become our pack leader.

I love Jake but he is not quick enough for 13 and Brown is a better ball player. I reckon Jake should be a prop on the run on side partnering Paseka to tighten up that middle during the softening stages in big games. I used to love to see Jake cutting them in half in defence. It doesn't happen often anymore as he is gassed. IMO the two bench props should be Aloio and Lodge. Second row Big O and the Lawman. I'd start with Crooker at 9 with Simpkin on the bench to play the last 20 minutes of each half. IMO The remaining bench spot is between Bullemore, Burbo, Sipley and Waddell.

Jake is too humble for his own good
The fact is Too much of anything is no good
Even the Woman like a bit of a Bad boy on their Bed

I tend to agree with you about Browns presence and also look at this with another perspective view
Browns Animated theatrics lifts the crowd and his team mates with every arrogant selfless carry. Browns on field charisma is contagious

Not quite in the super sub category but with the very helpful role he has provided for Manly this season , pretty close to it .
Seems much more effective coming on from the bench and also still seems to be working well with his 13 role after Jake has a stint there .
Definitely would not start him as a prop and regardless of the state of the game when he comes on , pretty much assured of giving the side a lift .
B K was always a starter for a variety of reasons and just so influential both on and off the field providing extra motivation and Brown in many ways not that much different with the positive on field benefit that he can offer and off the bench

Not sure re impact compared to BK but it does show the value of experience and not writing players off
I understand with what you are saying and you make a valid point feathered friend
But experience is not only the major factor
What writes an experienced player off is his expiry date and his inability to make an impact on the field

Respect is where Respect its due and Woodsie has been a great player in his prime
But it is time to hang up his boots and join Fox NRL full time
and give a Talented young player a go to get Manly going forward

Agree about Jake. He will be 31 next season.

I don't think for a moment Brown has the ability of BK, but he has a presence on the field I relate to BK in the was of lifting his team mates and making them more accountable, running harder and playing tougher, which is more the point than comparing him ability wise.

Agreed with all points made re Browny. We've been crying out for someone in our pack with a bit of mongrel that knows how to actually run onto the ball 'on the burst' with the majority of carries. Funny how the majority these days take the ball at a jog, accelerate to 70% of speed then hit the defensive line and make more metres post contact. It wasn't like that back in the 80's 90's was it? The best hit the line hard every run. If he was more of a talker out there - really giving a spray to his mates to follow his lead I'd be even happier. Reality is we're still one forward short who has that intimidation factor and a menacing presence out there. Until we find that someone we'll be a tier or two below the best of them. Go Manly

I guess it is another gamble both for relatively little risk

Also I would assume a Woodsie style recruit is as much about off the park as on the park

I understand what you are saying
Personally I would rather invest salary cap money in an up coming player on the field
and keep those off the park recruits that have had their day on the field like Woods off the park

The thing I like about Browns game is that he's doing it for us. He didn't seem to show this sort of passion for parra or the chooks but he's found some happiness at Manly and that tells me we are doing things better on and off the park.
I'm hesitant to say we've 100% turned the corner but I'm feeling more optimistic about our club than I've felt for quite a few years.

I think you will struggle to get any talent at a cheap rate like woodsie but understand what you are saying

Incompetent recruiters do struggle to unearth talent that come at a cheap rate
Shrewd Recruiters have proven to Invest in Great value buys that make an impact and over achieve

I just think there are not a heap of unproven kids who are ready to be snapped up for min wage. There might be but they require more work and a player like Woods at least you know what you are getting opposed to a gamble on a kid
