Why do you even refer to a discussion of whether racism exists? You are the only one who has mentioned that!
As for whether a person's background and past experiences should be taken into account in deciding what penalty they get for any offence, that is long established and supported all the way up to the High Court. So you could start a petition if you want to change that. A good place to start might be the local Qanon chapter!

Brisbane Broncos: Kotoni Staggs issued NRL breach notice

Brisbane Broncos star Kotoni Staggs has been investigated by the NRL after he was involved in an altercation that left a fan with head injuries.
The NRL Integrity Unit has issued Brisbane Broncos star Kotoni Staggs with a preliminary breach notice after he used a homophobic slur to insult a fan who asked for a photo.
Details of the 22-year-old Dally M Centre of the Year’s conduct emerged in court documents prepared by Dubbo police investigating an incident at the city’s Commercial Hotel on November 6.

According to court documents, Staggs knocked back a man’s request for a photo about 11pm and said “nah, you walk like a f*****”.

The man told Staggs to “f*** off” and a short time later Staggs confronted the man and ask if he called him a “black c***”.

Police said after Staggs and the man spoke, two of Staggs’s mates stepped in front of him and started to punch the man.

Brogan Black, 22, and Brad McCarroll, 21, punched the man in the head multiple times in the middle of the pub.

Staggs has not been accused of any wrongdoing in relation to the assault.
What a fvcking twat! Hero as well letting his mates beat up on a guy who merely asked for an autograph! And people in here wanna get rid of Walker & bring him here! Give me Walker anyway.

The Canberra Raiders have reportedly sacked four players for attempting to cover up a glassing incident.
The report in the Daily Telegraphclaims the four players, who all feature in the Raiders SG Ball (Under 18s) team, were involved in an alcohol-related incident in Canberra’s Civic district.

The incident turned ugly when one of the players was hit by a glass bottle.

First reports I read mentioned "lacerations". I'm just glad Fainu was nowhere near.

I'm tipping this thread to rival the Foran thread in size by the end of March ... players are lining up to get mentioned in it ...

Right on cue, just a few weeks out from the competition, Trenty has yet another excuse to add to his arsenal for when he fails miserably again.

Canterbury forward Adam Elliott to be interviewed over incident at home of former teammate

Canterbury forward Adam Elliott is the subject of an internal club inquiry and an NRL integrity unit investigation after a late-night incident at the home of former teammate Michael Lichaa.
Lichaa was charged with multiple offences on Sunday amid allegations he assaulted a 26-year-old woman. There is no suggestion Elliott has done anything wrong, nor is he the subject of police investigations, but the club was sufficiently concerned to contact the NRL integrity unit to make them aware of the matter.

“The club has reported the matter to the NRL integrity unit and is currently working with them,” the Bulldogs said in a statement.

Canterbury chair John Khoury confirmed the club had notified their sponsors and stakeholders. Khoury also spoke to ARL Commission chair Peter V’landys and NRL chief executive Andrew Abdo.

“If there is a problem, the club and the concerned individual are going to own it,” Khoury said.

“What we have done and are doing is contact all our stakeholders and key sponsors. This is a very fluid situation. But there are no police issues with our player.”

News Corp papers on Monday morning reported that Lichaa and a current NRL player, believed to be Elliott, were involved in an alleged altercation after a misunderstanding at a home in Sydney’s south.

On arrival, police found Lichaa with cuts to his arm and hand. He was treated at hospital before being charged over allegations of a domestic-related assault.

“Officers from St George Police Area Command attended and located a 27-year-old man with serious injuries to his arms,” the police statement said.

“It’s alleged that man had been involved in an argument with another man and woman in the early hours of the morning,” the statement said.

“During the argument the man allegedly assaulted the 26-year-old woman, who is known to him. He was arrested and taken to St George Hospital for treatment, before being transported under police guard to the Sydney Hospital where he underwent surgery.

“After his release from hospital, the man was taken to Kogarah Police Station where he was charged with common assault (DV), destroy or damage property (DV) and stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm (DV).”

Barrett made some errors at Manly, and the manner of his departure was possibly the biggest of all. Was it inexperience or does he lack some vital quality a head coach needs in NRL? I have no idea, and I won't begrudge him success except against us!

So Lichaa catches Elliott hanging out of 'sorry with' his GF and went all Jack Nicholson Shining mode? Is that what we think has happened here?
