Big news to break at Manly - Gus Gould

Best case scenario Barrett walks and spills his guts on the situation, get someone in to get rid of the rats starting at the top . If penn is behind any of this and cares for manly like he sais he does walk also , sit back and reap the rewards . Lets face it it would be a win win for him to get on with his other business interests and for manly to rebuild once again .Hello Geoff Toovey.

Who did they back end though? All of the core players received steady upgrades/extensions over the last 2 seasons as other players left.

Walker, Tapau, the Turbos all had deals done for upgraded pay a year or two ago. A few are off contract this season. We ALL know DCE’s deal. So I’m failing to see who this could refer too.

It sounds more like they are trying to make the Walkz rumour stick after he said it’s bull****. Repeat the lie so often people think it’s true...

Agree Loobs. The greatest click bait tool these media hacks have is "The Salary Cap" because no one ever knows the truth. It allows speculation to carry on for weeks in the media and people to form opinions around made up figures. The best part for the media is that no one ever calls them out with proof because players don't want anyone to know what they actually earn and clubs can't release details either.

People would be really surprised to know how low some players salaries actually are.

And considering that we will have Lussick, Myles, Poo and technically a bunch of guys we are looking to resign, all off contract - it just doesn’t make sense.

The club has even been adamant that once the outcome of the appeal is known they will upgrade and extend Api and the NRL will register it - against a depleted cap! So again - how can it be so ****ed up that we have to release guys when we are more likely we’ll under.

OSullivan was at Melb during their issues too, wasn't he ?

He was at Melbourne as well mate. Interesting this was from Brent Read just days ago after interviewing Gorman.

They have no recruitment manager, although Gorman insists the role will be filled in coming weeks. Former Melbourne and Sydney Roosters recruiting guru Peter O’Sullivan is the first person he should call. No one knows the game better.

Is this a good thing for us? A corrupt official who was banned and now comes to work for us because we're desperate?

I can't see the nrl looking to kindly on it but if he has finished his ban I suppose there's nothing they can do...other than sh*t all over us like they are now :mm:

Sydney Roosters recruiter Peter O'Sullivan cops indefinite ban from NRL

Roosters recruitment manager Peter O'Sullivan has copped an indefinite ban after the NRL deemed he wasn't a fit and proper person for registration.

The sanction against O'Sullivan, one of the best talent spotters in the game, relates at least in part to his association with notorious punter and brothel owner Eddie Hayson.

Manly can't be serious 😱

So no Immortal Zachary the administrator . Come on 10 years worth of SOO losses must count for some decent talent spotting.
The legends in their own lunch time and sausage roll eaters (don't choke whilst stuffing 2 in your mouths at the same time ) have the audacity
to question the Honourable Incomparable Immortal Robert Zachary Fulton on his NSW SOO selections over the QLD dominance since being a NSW selector from 1999
Selected Players include International all stars
Brett Stewart
Glenn Stewart
Anthony Whatmough
Jamie Lyon
Terry Hill
Glenn Lazarus
Andrew Johns
Brad Fittler
Boyd Cordner
Tyson Frizell
Laurie Daley
Paul Gallen
Michael Jennings
Jarryd Hayne
Tadesco
Bird
Dugan
Just to name a few
Even the best of coaches like Craig Bellamy failed to win a series against the better QLD team .
To single out an Incomparable Immortal for NSW failures is simply a Sausage roll class act .
SHAME !!!

I remember reading the turbos are backended. Their pay scales up each year I believe to the reported 900 and 700.

They are on fixed amounts - would be well known to the club and with the cap increasing I can't see how they would be throwing our cap into turmoil. Walker was supposedly on around 500K which is good centre money, Marty was upgraded and you have DCE. There isn't really any other big earners among the current squad. It would be their next contracts where a lot of guys would be getting pay rises.

Ok, I will probably get cut to ribbons here but, say you guys get what you want and Baz walks away, the problems with the club are still there ,very real, the place is a shambles and its a basket place. What coach in there right mind will want to walk into this mess right now. The problems have to be addressed and addressed quickly. One minute we have Gorman coming out and painting a rosy picture, saying all is good ,how good Baz is and how strong a coaching mind he has, and the next minute, it looks like he is going to walk away. I feel Baz has been hung out to dry here, alot of the stuff he has dealt with , he shouldnt of had to, our office staff are a mess,The Penns and Gorman have a bit to answer here in my books. The club is in a mess and has to be fixed. The problem is real folks, it might be hard to believe but it is

Nope I agree with you
Until front office is fixed or certain figures leave this club we will continue to be a basket case for many years to come.

Well .... I would laugh my arse off if the support Baz wanted was to sack Ferris, sack Zorba and sack Cartwright ... and the club has refused to pay them out ....

That would have the poor bum sore chorus confused .....

Hot damn they are massive sausage rolls! Bozo, where’s Zorba in this pic or is he strictly a pie eating know all?

Loobs remember in 16 we got Marty , Api , brown , walker, then a year later got lussick home just to name a few . We still had Stewart , matai and killer still on the books . Throw in the Myles fiasco , i can now see how we ended in ****. A big Fuhking mess.

Gus did come out (on the footy show I think it was) and said that Baz phoned him quite emotional. Then phoned him again the following day. All in relation to the event issues.
This was a week or so ago...

He did work for Gus in his first coaching gig at Penrith.

It has been a very difficult time for Baz lately and calling Gould for some advice and to talk to i am not upset about. As much as we want all our players and coaches to just do their job they are human beings with feelings, thoughts and emotions and can suffer from anxiety, stress like anyone else.

He probably had that outlet with Bozo whilst he was here but now that he is gone he reached out to someone he trusts. Sucks that it’s not a Manly person but what’s done is done.

If i was Baz i would be filthy that someone i trusted released it to the media and hopefully he learns a lesson from it.

It’s a results driven business but he is contracted for another 3 yrs and the club won’t cut him unless there are KPI’s he must meet as part of his contract. So he is our head coach for a while yet.

We don’t know what the meeting was about and this morning i heard on BSB they reported that we held “crisis talks” with interviews to be held today for support staff? Doesn’t make sense that you give the club an ultimatum and the next day they have interviews lined up.

Better to try an ignore the media atm as they will spin anything to get a ‘breaking news’ headline atm about Manly.

We have salary cap pressure and the club would have done the upgrades with projected increases in the cap etc. Don’t know which club forecasts their player upgrades/signings with contingencies in case they are slapped with a cap penalty? The club was confident they have done nothing wrong, had independent checks, everything was signed off by the NRL. Ppl blowing up that Bozo and the team backended contracts and screwed us over ala Des in 2012 and walked out are wrong. They signed and upgraded to the projected cap, actually did it in a responsible manner as we are not over this yr and i’m pretty sure they weren’t going to re-sign Myles, brown, lussick, Hastings etc. There is still time to sort out next yr also.

If the appeal goes through and we are successful then we are back in business. If not we might lose one high end player to cope with 2019 and then we get the full cap in 2020. Not all doom and gloom yet ppl even though the media will report otherwise. Cap wise we might be under pressure but we have a good squad. Over at the Dogs they are under pressure now and even more so next yr with shocking roster.

Good post ..... I have a gut feeling ... no info ..... that Baz will come out of this stronger ..... he may just be over some of the deadwood in the support staff and has told the club he wants them gone ....
