Attributing blame

I like Cust... it’s never just about how good a rookie performs when they are three games into a first grade career. Cade has had some wonderful moments no doubt. He has also had some clangers which is to be expected from such an inexperienced kid.

Many rookies will drop their heads and stop playing what’s in front of them after they make a few errors. The way Cade responded to adversity speaks volumes about the type of competitor that he is.

He has the skills, and whether it is on the Beaches or someplace else, i believe the kid will develop into a very handy player.
You don't need to have a long kicking game to be a success in the halves, however you need to have one of the halves that does.At the moment we don't have one fit,I think he will go well with DCE beside him,Munster and Foran do not have great long kicking games and they go ok...he looks like he can develop a good short tactical kicking game like Munster to me,but it is early days for a kid.

I think you and @Snake are both correct.

Snakes point about the halves is spot on. More effective halves would have controlled the game better, kicked more effectively and that completely changes the dynamic of any game.

Also, you are spot on in my opinion that from the very first tackle, they looked like they wanted it more. They ran harder, played the ball faster and were more aggressive in defence from the first whistle. I commented to a mate that from the first few sets, they were playing touch footy and we were plodding.

If we had better controlling halves, we may have won the game.

If we were more enthusiastic, aggressive and matched the Panthers, we may have won the game.

A combination of both issues which ultimately led to a deflating loss.
I am sorry, but there can only be one winner...Two forum members enter, one forum member leaves.....

Yeah mate... spot on I reckon.

Our forwards were again treated with total disrespect by debutants last night .... for the second week in a row we were out-muscled and out-enthused by a pack that played like a pack ... until our forwards especially .... Marty I can lift 300kgs but can't knock a fowl off a farmyard fence Kapow ... play with some aggression and mongrel and teamwork ... we will continue to get dominated in the ruck ...

Individuals were all having a go ... but it is not a game for individuals .... Fix this before talking to me about our halves ...
Scott Sattler agrees with you. Said Marty and AFB were too busy trying to do the pretty stuff rather than the hard grunt - or something like that.

I want to love LG and say how awsome he is in running our team around but truthfully think he is out of his league. He is a passenger in the NRL unfortunately and think he will only excel in the Blacktown team. Bugger, cos he ripped us a new one last year at Brookie but can't step up to the level of that game.

Elgey Is done, That’s the simple answer to this. Our game is not that complicatd. He is gone and Des will confirm that soon.

Scott Sattler is a f.ing fool. He may Bec right in this case but this clown is an embarrassment .Ask the Titans about Scott. ****ing disgrace.

That’s where I disagree with most on last night. Both were poor, but for me a huge reason we lost that game, was that Cust killed our attack for the majority of the game on that side and didn’t feed early ball to our best attacking strike weapon. He ran nicely at the end of the game but the few times walker got good ball he was making things happen, Elgey was at least giving his outside men decent ball, and the inside ball to Elliott was a nice touch that Tom probably makes more of.
Agree Cust didn’t feed Walker but Elgey gave no one anyone decent ball.Floating high bull**** passes. It was a joke.

Watching Souths struggling tonight without Walker and Cook, and considering how poorly the Roosters have played without Cronk and Keary, it really isn't that surprising that we would be flat on the back of losing our star halfback, fullback, lock, and a host of other key players. I am just hoping we can field a fit side for the rest of the year,

I actually don't know who he is, just heard him on the radio in the 'expert' role when I was finishing a long drive.

He played 200+ NRL games but is mostly known for the one career highlight that seems to get played on every single grand final day.

Was later a football manager (at the Titans) and Queensland Cup commentator.

Cust reminds me a little of a younger Foran
His kicking and passing will improve with game time, confidence and the right guidance and is showing more promise after only a few games in 1st grade than Elgey is showing after yrs
I would like to see him play with Dce for a few games to see how he develops, with Crocker injury prone i am sure he will get his chance
Ye i agree.. with dce controlling the game cust can chime in with his running game. He needs to improve his kicking game though and feed his outside men. Tommy loves the left side he and cust could form a great combo. Turbo makes others better as we all know.

Not sure what game you were watching Woodside but Taupau’s stats last night were pretty good!!! 140m plus, 30 tackles plus, offloads plus.....not sure what you expect. AFB was amazing as were the rest of the forwards, unfortunately our halves & backs let us down!

Aha. The tackle guy! Thanks.

Aha. The tackle guy! Thanks.

His father is considered the toughest player of all time by many. I think he was sent of 16 times in his career.

You know some kids live off the glory of their more talented dads. Often reaching heights there ability couldn't carry them to.

Seems our form has nosedived since DW came back into the team. Could it be that not every player is onboard with what happened and the judgement made ??
