All we are saying, is Pearce off !

If you seriously think the SMH is centre right, I hate to think what you would call left of centre. Pravda?
And the labour party moving to the right? With a 50% renewables target and open borders? Seriously?
As for tax rates - I pay 49c in the dollar - is that what you would call "virtually tax free". Over half the Australian population pay no net tax, meaning the other half is footing the bill. Is that what you call "equitable and proportionate"?
As for the nirvana that you suggest is Europe, it seems all is not so rosy in Merkels socialist utopia these days, given she can't form government in Germany, and the UK voted to get out. Some of those scandanavian countries you no doubt see as nirvana have the highest tax rates in the world.
How did we get into debt? Maybe because of the creep of socialist nanny state welfareism, where half the country has their hand-out expecting something for nothing, instead of pitching in, having a go and trying to better themselves, and indirectly, the country.

I wont get into much discussion with you about these issues because its not the right site. Try The Conversation for that.

You would be one of the unfortunate wealthier people Terry who pay their full tax, and you are right the income taxes are being paid by only a small majority of people here. Such is the craziness of the system. But those I know who are wealthy, some in the billions, have all sorts of ways of minimising their tax to a point in some cases where they virtually end up paying little or none at all.

I happen to have a close friend who is a corporate solicitor with vast experience and knowledge regarding minimising tax (assisted by his successful accountant brother) and has the contacts needed to achieve that. He deals with the wealthy all the time, some the wealthiest in the country, and I can assure you there are a lot of wealthy people out there who avoid what many of us naive people think they are paying. I suspect you dont have a creative accountant and solicitor.

And dont confuse socialism with a limiting of capitalist excesses. Those European nations are not socialist, they are countries that are better able to limit the excesses of unconstrained capitalist excesses as exists in the US

Exactly what Terry Randall said left wing ideology with subsidizing wind farms (that cant generate base load) and climate change and 200mill to Paris accords etc and the fact that there were approx 227 million welfare payments made last year in a country of 25 million half of which don't pay any net tax !is it any wonder we are in the state we are in.If rates kick up globally (not likely for 12-18 months ) then we will be in a world of hurt .The only reason we came out of the GFC half ok was due to China's demand for our resources not Rudds ham-fisted attempts at economic heroism. And god help us if we get Shorten in with a 50 % renewable s target which will send electricity even higher ,further eroding the one competitive advantage that we had which was cheap power,as we pay very expensive wages. Its not a pretty picture when you follow the dots with all this. Turnbull is as bad as Shorten they should all pretty much with a few exceptions, hang there head's in shame for the mess they have made of this country and for its future .
All we are saying, is give Pearce a chance!

You are right its not really the site for this but i cant help myself when these sorts of things get discussed.
Our tax system is a mess our welfare system is rorted by people from all over the world and we as a nation have become un-incentavised and uncompetitive.
We need an economic shake up made up of a number of things i.e nuclear energy program (which can revolutionize our competitiveness ),abolish state governments (we are the most over governed country in the world) 20% flat personal income tax rate (no deductions),20% corporate tax ,20% GST and then make allowances for low income earners. That structure would make us lean, competitive and keen to get ahead.

When you look at our squad even though Snake, Matai no longer in our cap for 2018 and also no Myles or Lawrence, given that we signed up turbo and Jake long term, have players like Marty, Walks on good salaries.. we resigned Jorge, and every other player we wanted to keep. Killa and Siro would be on better coin this year and their old clubs are not tipping in.. so it would make sence that we don't have a spare 1 to 1.2 million under the cap.. even with Green gone.
Maybe we had $300/450 available for 2018.. we looked at Thompson. knowing we could offer say $350 for 2018 and maybe back end his deal to $500 for 19 and 20..then the Cronk to Roosters talk starts.. Manly look into this knowing Green has the Warriors offer and figure.. we release Green free up his salary $350/400k, and make a move for Pearce.. now able to offer him $800 for 2018 and backend 2019/20 to 1mill..thus having to pull out of thompson chase..all seems to stack up to me... and Rothtool writting crap because he would be so pissed pearce would come to manly on less money..

I love nothing more than people speculating on how much cap space we have or in that fact, complaining about how much space other clubs have or that they are cheating the cap

The fact is nobody has any blooming idea, and that is not a slight on fans it’s just due to the fact the cap can be managed in so many different ways.

People tend to just go, player X is a premier forward so he is on about 800k a year, Player Y is on a 4 year deal worth 2 million so that is 500k a year etc etc

But maybe player X has 300k worth of TPA’s

Maybe player Y was signed on a back ended contract and is on 750k the last two years of the deal

Maybe player Z had significant rep bonuses that now run into this year’s cap

Player B though has had long serving player allowances kick in

Player F has left the club but we are subsidising part of the deal

Player T’s contract was front loaded so we are only paying him 200k this year

Player D has a car allowance factored into his deal

Player J, K and M’s contracts state their salary increases the same percentage as any cap raise

Players S, Q and R, managers suck and they do not have the above

Etc etc etc

The only thing we can say is we are in the market…..so we have some cash to spend, simple

Seems fairly straight forward???

Nobody has any idea the makeup on any particular players deal when TPA'S, front loading, back loading, rep bonuses, car allowances, veteran player allowences etc etc are factored in......so why bother analyzing
