Point taken, but over the last couple of years we have blooded Paseka,Keppie,Fainu,Olakau'atu,Waddell,Cust,Funa,Garrick(maybe others I don't remember)We are adding guys regularly.
What about the question I asked if we are not winning games and are bringing through a bunch of youngsters at the same time, would you accept the losses or demand more changes to fix it immediately?
The point I was getting about with the previous players was that we were struggling at the time and had little choice to play some kids etc....Des inherited a team with no players apart from a few locals and juniors and some guys willing to leave their clubs for an opportunity(Westley,Long,Shipway etc...)I don't believe we are in the same boat now.

This could go on until Christmas Smokin'.

But in answer to your question, my response was indirectly elucidating by identifying that young players brought in when the team aren't succeeding, often lifted the side, if they are good enough. That's why I mentioned the before and after dates for each player. Of course I appreciate that such success is not solely because those players were promoted, but you will note several were promoted when the team was performing less effectively.

I guess we saw what can happen when players are not utilised who can impact on a game, with Barrett, who when even losing badly, with multiple injuries, was reluctant to promote players who could have made an impact, preferring steady and pedestrian. Not that Des is a novice like Barrett was, but I suspect its safe to overlook flaws in a team, when other players are covering those deficiencies by playing so well to get you over the line. Sometimes that maintains stability. Other times it promotes predictability, and good coaches are all too aware of what weaknesses an opposition has.

But its obvious that we have differing perspectives and I guess we'll just have to wait and see because in the end we have no say whatever in what the coach decides.

He is in the mix. A loss last week and he was right in contention. What’s to lose. He could not possibly go as ordinary as Garrick is right now. Fair dinkum he’s hard to watch getting smashed.
garricj is far better than Taufua... doesn’t provide a glaring weakness of the high ball to be targeted unlike Taufua

Smokin' I should also respond to your dentification of players promoted. Certainly Des promotes forwards well. In fact its surprising because generally forwards take longer to adapt to first grade because of the demands of the role. The other players, Garrick, Funa and Cust are good first graders in the making. Garrick will develop and has pace as does Funa but I cant see them as game changes. Maybe in a few years. Cust reminds a little of Ian Martin and may develop into a major factor. But as pointed out the outside backs are safe but predictable. If young Hoppa stays with us, the idea of Turbo at centre may not be such a bad idea as one option. But there needs to be more penetration in that backline. DCE has done almost all of it, with some recent support from Cust, though I'm still yet to be fully convinced Cust is the answer. Maybe. But lets see what the mad professor comes up with. In the forwards he's done a marvellous job. The backs...well lets wait a little inger and see.

The money being paid for TomT will almost certainly see him play nowhere other than fullback

I was waiting for the response Smokin'. I'm sorry but I'm somewhat well known as a tease. I knew you'd respond. As for example I have a lot of time for Cust who played alongside Wright in the juniors and was outstanding. Made me wonder why they brought over Metcalf. He's got a lot going for him but I do want to see a bit more of him before I start lauding. Sorry for the tease.

Albert was shown on the injury list on fox coverage. New injury or are fox just delayed with the news?

From nrl.com last night.

Seems Hoppa jnr is not fit for first grade.

Manly Sea Eagles
Dylan Walker (foot, TBC)
Brad Parker (head knock, round 14)
Curtis Sironen (knee, TBC)
Tom Trbojevic (hamstring, round 15-17)
Albert Hopoate (knee, indefinite)
Manase Fainu (stood down/shoulder)

New injury apparently. When will we see what his can do in first grade. Could be something special, Can t take a trick.

Interesting they call concussion a “head knock”. Wonder if it is a liability thing? He just had a “head knock” so all sweet.

poor brad was out cold. Disneyland.

Today Seattle unveiled the name and log of their new hockey team.

I give you the Seattle Kracken!

In reference to their social cohesion?

What disappoints me most is how badly the club treats its die hard supporters by keeping us in the dark. It back to the Peter Peters days. They excite us about signing the young stars (Schuster & Hoppa) and since we been told told sweet F A about how they are progressing or recovering from injury. In the meantime they are serving **** sandwiches like the one on Saturday night. You can probably tell that I am angry.
