Queensland deserved the win. They played to their potential & possibly can't improve further.

Oh yes they can, and by a fair margin. But I’d also expect improvement from NSW with better halves selections.

The stupid thing is that the only change in the halves for Game 2 will probably be Maloney or Pearce replacing Walker who other than passing to Jake for his try.....did absolutely nothing.

Cleary despite everything is going to be there for the long haul for NSW. He'll be their halfback for the next few years at least because they seem to think he's a great player. Yet the two times in Origin that he's played a good halfback (DCE), he's got his butt handed to him.

Queensland deserved the win. They played to their potential & possibly can't improve further. I think NSW can improve a lot, but may need to recall Maloney (don't know if Keary will be fit for game 2). Walker was fairly ineffective & Mitchell is out of sorts. The NSW left edge defence was terrible. Attack & defence suffered when Jake was off the field - think he should play 80 minutes. Tom will likely be recalled for next game, but both Morris & Cotric played well with limited opportunities. Murray made an impressive debut.

Manly will get a great boost with the brothers & DCE back in the team.

Tommy in for Cotric. Keary in for Walker if fit, otherwise Wighton. Hass was quiet, but worth keeping. And yes Jake needs to be out there longer, hopefully the 80. They dominated the ruck ruthlessly while he was off.

Wighton isn't as skill full, but we need a bigger body in there to take on Munster imo. He was swatting away players at will.

I think a lot of reporters just don't really have any understanding of the game at all. So they only notice what's on the scoreboard or what looks spectacular, and failing that, the players reputation.

James Bracey asks some ridiculous and obvious questions. Sterlo should've been the main man in the middle imo.

Munster is an interesting player. A couple of moves he put on in this game reminded me of Bobby Fulton! Not saying Munster is that good, but his stepping, acceleration, strength to bump away from tacklers, and nose for a gap are a formidable combination.
Speaking of old time immortals - I've thought for some time that Latrell has a bit of Big Artie about him! Much faster of course (even though I've heard Artie began as a centre), but he's still only 21 and has amazing strength and ball skills. Barely sighted tonight, though, NSW needed more from him.

Multiple changes for the blues next game. Walker, Crighton, one of Morris or Cotric so turbo comes back. Should be Cleary as well but he probably won't get dropped, probably Wighton as well. Can they drop that many when the blues have been talking about sticking and picking?

Reynolds should come in for Cleary and keep Walker. Cleary isn’t up to it. Cordner isn’t the answer at captain that job should go to cook he is on the whole eighty. Cordner is a good player but I don’t sense he has the controlling or calming head especially being wider of the ruck and exerting himself all the time.

It will be interesting to see what happens but I sense were going to see qld dominance whilst ever they have that spine. Hunt warmed into the role. Made fifty tackles and was a kicking option. Munster looked like Wally Lewis DCE was like a surgeoon and Ponga is seriously a freak. Arrow was a machine, McGuire has some **** in his game but he’s one hell of a player. Gagai and chambers solid. Kaufusi and Gillet are small compared to the big NSW back rowers but showed so much more energy and effort. Papalii and Napa did enough. Morgan looks good at centre and doesn’t have to over think anything. Oates is always impressive.

So hmmm, I think NSW might be in a bit of pain as long as they stick with Cleary which if history tells us anything will be about ten more years.

When Klemmer and Jake were on we scored all our points and looked the better team, when they were off we got flogged.

These 2 dominated Qld in defence. Fitler left Klemmer on for too long in his first stint though. Klemmer had twice the run metres of the total of his opposition props at half time as well.

Walker and Mitchell got caught up in all the anthem stuff and heads were elsewhere and add Addo-carr who can't defend on the edge and that is a recipe for disaster.

Wouldn't make a lot of changes, Chrighton can go for a prop to improve balance as Murray has the backrow covered. Walker can go for Reynolds or Keary and Mitchell for Turbo on that performance, TT has to be somewhere if fit.

Yep. It was a terrific game of rugby league. One of the best in years. You should watch it just for the fact it will be the making of DCE and will translate into our next premiership. Would be nice if the rumours we are chasing arrow are true and DCE can have a word in his ear.

I said before the game we were short s prop and I still believe it.

The real worry for Freddy is that this was Qld's first game with this new spine and Chez hadn't played for 5 weeks plus Hunt was out of his Club form and was not expected to last 80 minutes.

Qld's 6 halves all managed to adapt to their new roles.
Even Mbye was effective off the bench.

Keary will be unavailable in 2019 so Teddy and Cook will suffer with the Blues makeshift halves till next year at least 😎

Good game of rugby league last night. Blues were more structured and dominant in the first half (with Turbo on the pitch).

I felt that momentum and passion ratcheted up for QLD in the second stanza, and they rode the wave.

Having good halves around DCE allowed him to control things rather than have to create everything. This suited him big time.

Good signs for the eagles - especially if Tommy comes back with form/fitness.

QLD will win game 2.... and take the series 2-1
