2016 Halves Choice Merged Mega-Thread

Well said Kevinward and Dan. Its just n opinion. We'll see????.
We will see what exactly?

Not sure if troll, or just criminally dense.

Will someone explain the joke to him before my eyeball pops?

Its sad Coz Elgey is a Local Junior for TITANS. He will make sure the TITAN fans are Happy because thats were he is groomed and trained and coached to who he is today.Thats why he remains at TITANs
Literate lot, aren't they?

This is what I would do after throwing the bank at DCE to get him to stay and he still leaves.

Get Ash Taylor to break final year of his contract, offer small deal with incentives and the chance to play 1st grade next year. As this is his last year in Holden Cup.

Partner him with Todd Carney 1 year deal with a club option for 2nd and 3rd year.

Mitch Cornish is clearly on the outer with sticky, Sign him up on 2nd tier contract for NSW Cup. Offer him 50k More then what his on at the Raiders and a chance to play first grade.
Partner Cornish in NSW cup with either Travers or Pearsall which ever is the better prospect.

Should be able to tie these four up for under what it would cost to get DCE to stay leaving plenty of room to look for some Boppers. Creates competition for spots and players are on incentives to give them reason to perform. All this has to be better then Sandow or keating with Killer at 5/8

Well tooves said we are looking for options outside of the club.

To be honest I wouldn't mind a Hastings and Cornish combination.

Cornish is a talented player who is struggling under sticky and Hastings is a quality youngster who the chooks might let go. Both have played junior rep footy.

I prefer manly give some youngsters on short term deals a chance, then to throw stupid money on the other halve options that are available. Sign up some good forwards.

If it doesn't work out, 2017 comes along, lots of players off contract. DCE may even come home if his time at the GC goes sour.

Dan its not criminally dense or whatever you think. Its up to the coaches and club executive to decide not my business( Thats what it means by we'll see....sure thats why it's with a question mark)..Interestingly for YOU
Dan was having a joke about the term "grooming" you used in your post...hope that explains things.

The halves solution is simple - we just take a whole and cut it in half....it's not rocket science Ironsteins!!

The first time I had a Cornish pasti was in Hastings, so that irony would be worthwhile

Tackle Six – Bozo show hits Manly

Bob Fulton’s DNA has always been an intrinsic part of the Manly Sea Eagles. Under the club’s new management, it’s just as strong as ever. Both of Fulton’s sons, Brett and Scott now have roles associated with the club.

Brett is chairman of Manly’s junior development committee, which features his father, former players Peter Peters and Jack Elsegood alongside Jackie McCauley.

Based in Coonamble, Scott has been engaged to scout players from regional NSW. That job falls generally under Fulton’s consultancy with Manly, which is using his expertise in talent identification.

so watched a few games from this rep weekend and a few players (Halves caught my eye)

Samisoni Langi (Sydney Roosters) 5/8 for Tonga
Joel Luani (West Tigers) Half 5/8 for Tonga

the halves in the Junior test match could be worth a shot as well
Jackson Hastings was terrible

Gotta agree Hastings didn't live up to the hype but fullback is not his position....it was that old mentallity of lets throw our best players into a team even if its out of position & that rarely works.

One of the Super League's top playmakers, England halfback Richie Myler, is keen to test himself in the NRL next year.

Myler, poised to play his 100th game for Warrington over the weekend, is off contract at the end of the season and keen for a new challenge. The former Widnes and Salford star is expecting a baby with his television presenter wife, Helen Skelton, and the English power couple are prepared to relocate for a fresh start.

The 24-year-old has played six Tests since his international debut in 2008, although he wasn't part of the England squad for last year's Four Nations campaign.

His desire to move to Australia is likely to pique the interests of those NRL clubs without a halves pairing for 2016, most notably Manly.

"He's always had aspirations to play here," Myler's manager Andrew Purcell said.

"He's played in a couple of Challenge Cups, earned a couple of winner's medals and played for his country. Now he's seen the success some of the other [Super League] guys have had over here and he would like to come and improve himself as a footballer. He's very keen to do it."

And if you believe the reports Gidley just announced is going there next year...... to play halfback I would expect as their fullback is pretty handy.

And a follow up on the story in a UK paper .. looking more and more likely whether it be Manly or Cronulla not sure what other team needs a 1/2 back ??
