Trouble is Ben that many of the best available talent has already been grabbed by other clubs. We desperately need forwards but they dont seem to be heading our way. I suspect Watmough was right. The atmosphere at Manly remains toxic and there are a number of players unhappy. Lyon and Toovey are said to be holding things together but something has to give. They need an infusion of new blood and quick. I'm still not sure the Penn/Kelly arrangement is in our best interests.

I honestly think we a playing our cards perfect. Non of the players that have been signed in the last couple weeks i would really want at our club anyway besides Beau Scott.

Wicks- Never a factor
RTS- Don't need a fullback
Gagi- Not needed
T Burgess- Only signed one year deal because of NFL interest. No future seen here.
Sezer- More promising signs in Elgey

I think its good that we're not just announcing signings for the sake of it to make ourselves feel better. This shows that we are not panicking and signing rubbish. Every move is well calculated to fit into our future plans and to promote the best growth.

I know as a fan we always want the best straight away but thats not going to happen. We are at the end of an era and its time to hit reset.

Be patient and don't get caught up in what other clubs are doing. This is a business and you will come undone if you go tit for tat.
I agree but are your really Joe Kelly or Zorbe? Come on fess up....

Why is the atmosphere toxic do u think?

Is it Brett Stewart vs DCE. That problem will be solved next year. The quantum guys are gone and according to watmough they were the ones that the players had a problem with. Eg not offering gift a contract etc.

Bearfax. I would rather focus on the long term success rather than a short term mediocre result. But thats just me. I have not source with the way its playing out but it appears that way and makes the most scenes to me. The way he pulled the DCE contract off the table says to me Kelly has balls and states no one is bigger than the club. Move on so we can.

If its a spoon next year so be it but as long as it means we are building the right way. Its easy to roll a turd in glitter and say it amazing, but its still a turd.
Lets cut the toxic crap out (which is whats happening, slowly but surely) and keep the quality control at a Manly standard.
Don't get me wrong i agree with you that the atmosphere isn't great but we have to hit rock bottom before the healing starts.
Build for the future.

I think it still goes back to Gifty not being signed last year. Some players still having a cry over everything.

Fair dinkum if anyone's still crying over Gift or Choc then they need to grow a set and fuk right off now. Their best years are well behind them both. It was time to move on.
I agree. Whilst Foran is still there, no doubt some bad juju is still lingering

Stuff it we make teams look good. Same old defence returns after 60 minutes. You can't play for 60 minutes. They have had their injurys to and with no halves there attack looks great. Stuff it

But we did play shyte.

Back onto signings then,
why haven't we friggin' signed
anyone yet!!!

Pull ur fingers out you deckheads - we ARE the new fu$king canberra.

C'mon swannies & Sydney FC.

One of the Super League's top playmakers, England halfback Richie Myler, is keen to test himself in the NRL next year.
Myler, poised to play his 100th game for Warrington over the weekend, is off contract at the end of the season and keen for a new challenge. The former Widnes and Salford star is expecting a baby with his television presenter wife, Helen Skelton, and the English power couple are prepared to relocate for a fresh start
The 24-year-old has played six Tests since his international debut in 2008, although he wasn't part of the England squad for last year's Four Nations campaign.
His desire to move to Australia is likely to pique the interests of those NRL clubs without a halves pairing for 2016, most notably Manly.

The Sea Eagles are in the mix for the services of off-contract Newcastle back Jake Mamo. The Knights would like to retain him but will struggle to create a pathway for him to play in his preferred position of fullback, particularly if captain Kurt Gridley re-signs. The Dragons are another club interested in Mamo.

Vision of Mounties prop Luke Page leaving Manly defenders in his wake last weekend has gone viral. It has also created plenty of interest among rival NRL clubs, some of which are desperate to sign him before the June 30 transfer deadline. Page is off contract at the end of the year and three Sydney clubs, including the Sea Eagles and the Roosters, are sussing out his intentions. Canberra coach Ricky Stuart wants the damaging forward to remain in the nation's capital and has opened negotiations about an extension.

Mamo is a good player bu we have Stewart, Taufua, Gutherson, Trbojevic, Hiku, Lyon and Matai fighting for 5 positions

Super League giants Leeds are making a play for St George Illawarra star Gareth Widdop as a replacement for rugby-bound veteran Kevin Sinfield.

Here we go again. Young Tom T. has chosen not to extend his contract beyond 2016, allowing his management to 'test' the market. When will this Manly admin learn.

There are two things that hold a player to a club. One is they want to stay and the other that the money offered is within the ball park of other offers.

For a long time players wanted to stay at Manly. The camaraderie was good, the coaching good, the Board OK, things were all hunky dory. So when contracts had to be signed, Manly could be sure they would hold onto their players as long as their offer was within the ball park.

But the deteriorating mood in the club. almost totally brought about by its dysfunctional board has gradually changed to attitude of the players. While they were a tight playing group, the dysfunctions of the Board were just an irritation. But year by year its got worse until it is now destroying the camaraderie that had developed over decades. I realise that the salary cap is the catalyst, but it is more than that. It is also how the Board handles these issues.

I get the feeling that this Board sees it players as cattle, not part of a family. The players know this. The family atmosphere instilled by Arthurson is being dismantled by business only principles.

Little wonder players and staff are jumping what seems a sinking ship. No wonder the Board is having such problems signing players internally and externally. The word is out. Manly is on the nose.

We have kids of talent coming through the ranks. When contract deals are being offered where would you go if the offers were similar or at least in the ball park. Manly's ace that people wanted to stay has vanished.

This Board and perhaps the ownership needs a total rebooting, otherwise Manly as a club is destined for the distant also-rans for years or worse. Get your act together Penns or get out.
