Get ready with the disagree button BUT I was doing my supercoach team selection/trades etc and was looking down the Eels team. Wow this is a very ordinary team on paper and yet they have done incredibly well. They are the success story so far this year.
I can hear the cries "they bought a team with overs on the salary cap". ok but which of those players have contributed to their present position?
It goes to show how a team/coaching staff when working as one can do so well.
I have criticised the Eels club as much as anyone but something is happening out there to overcome all the dramas.

I don't agree they are an ordinary team on paper.
Yes most of their players are 'ordinary', in that they are not superstars, but if you look at the balance of the squad it is a strong squad.
They have size experience aggression and depth in the forwards, speed experience and some footy smarts in the backs.
If they still had Foran, Paulo, and Peats (let alone Watmough) they would be seriously challenging for this year's premiership.
However it's true that the coaches deserve credit for keeping their morale and momentum up. Though Channel 9 is partly to thank for that as well, for pressuring Todd to go easy on them and delay the cheating penalty.

The Parra managers deemed responsible for the fraud are still there despite the League's instructions that they should be gone before Parra can start to accrue points again.
I remember this too. So, there will be more than 12 points deducted?

Books? What books?

I thought that they only had to be under the cap before they could start accruing points again.

I thought that they only had to be under the cap before they could start accruing points again.
Yep, they only had to become Salary Cap Compliant to accrue points again as per the excerpts from the following NRL.com articles:

Parramatta salary cap preliminary findings
Tue 03 May, 2016, 10:20am
Media Release, NRL.com

- The Parramatta Eels will be docked all competition points accumulated so far this season while their team was in breach of the salary cap. The club will be able to begin accruing points as soon as it makes the necessary changes to comply with the 2016 cap.

Eels breaches must stop today: Greenberg
Tue 03 May, 2016, 1:27pm
By Martin Gabor‌, National Correspondent , NRL.com

"And most regrettably, the Parramatta Eels will be docked all competition points accumulated so far during the 2016 NRL Telstra Premiership while the team has been in breach of the salary cap.

"The club will be able to accrue points as soon as it makes the necessary changes to comply with the cap and I genuinely hope that is very soon. We will assist in that process wherever possible."

Eels now salary cap compliant: NRL
Thu 12 May, 2016, 5:09pm
NRL

The NRL said on Thursday that, based on information currently available, the Parramatta Eels are now salary cap compliant for the remainder of the 2016 season.

The club may now submit, as part of its response to the Breach Notice, that it should be allowed to keep any points it wins in Friday night's game against South Sydney and for the balance of the season.

You also have to realise that the 12 point deduction was only a proposal along with all of the other penalties that they were given. They were all only proposals and so nothing was set in concrete to say that any penalty will be enforced what-so-ever by the NRL.

If you go back and see the original statement made by greenturd,he did say that all 5 members had to go before they could start accumulating points as well as being under the cap.
Please show me where it said that as damned if I can find that statement anywhere and the first two articles that I put excerpts from in my previous post are the first two put out by the NRL, the first being the media statement and the second being from when Greenturd opened his address to the media at the announcement that the Parramatta Eels would be stripped of all competition points while non-salary cap compliant.

NRL backs down on Eels directors stance

The NRL has backflipped on its stance that Parramatta can’t play for points until its `Gang of Five’ officials leave the club.

After NRL CEO Todd Greenberg initially said the Eels would not be allowed to accrue points while the five officials remained in their roles, the NRL’s counsel Lachlan Gyles told the NSW Supreme Court on Friday the group’s legal action against the league was a separate matter.

“It is a side show,” Gyles told the court.

“While this injunction is on foot, it would not prevent the accrual of points if it (Parramatta) is within the salary cap.”

Arthur Moses SC, the lawyer representing Eels chairman Steve Sharp, chief executive John Boulous, head of football Daniel Anderson, deputy chairman Tom Issa and director Peter Serrao, also confirmed he received paperwork from the NRL on Thursday stating their involvement with Parramatta was separate to the club’s need to get under the salary cap to begin playing for points again.

The Supreme Court’s injunction allowing the directors to continue their roles at the Eels was on Friday carried over until Monday.

But it seems the outcome of those proceedings will now not impact upon the Eels’ chances to win points beginning with next Friday’s round 10 match against South Sydney.

The Eels will still have to fit under the 2016 salary cap before that time.

The quintet were provisionally suspended as part of a raft of sanctions handed down on Tuesday by the NRL in regard to salary cap indiscretions at the Eels dating back to 2013.

Friday’s developments were in contrast to comments made by Greenberg on Fox Sports on Tuesday, only hours after handing down his provision sanctions, which included the loss of 12 competition points and a $1 million fine.

When asked on NRL 360 if Parramatta could accrue points if the deregistered employees remained with the club, Greenberg replied: “The short answer is no.

“The breach notice is very clear on the registration of officials and directors and they need to adhere to those provisions and that is also linked to them accruing points in the future.”

The directors were initially given a week to respond to the NRL’s move to deregister them.

That time frame has now been extended until June 3.

A final decision on the NRL’s move to dock the Eels points and fine them $1 million is expected to be made two weeks after that date.

That just shows more proof of Greenturds incompetence as head of the NRL. He says one thing one day and then says something completely different on another day. Nowhere in the original statements does it say anything about the Eels Officials being part of the prevention of the Eels accruing competition points. The Eels Officials were always a separate penalty. Getting the club 2016 Salary Cap complaint was always the only thing preventing the accrual of competition points.

Greenturd was blindsided by the Injunction. The whole press conference was him trying to come across as being a caring but fair CEO to the Eels players.

The foxsports penalty summary, did include the Gang of 5 clause. Pretty sure I would have posted it the next day@

The NRL did win the case, plus costs so I'm hoping he doubles the preliminary penalties to disuade other Clubs in the future

And meanwhile the Eels keep accruing points , currently sitting on 22 and 5th spot.

And guess what ??

Tomorrow is yet another Friday!!!

There's got to be something brewing, the court has decided weeks ago, there's nothing Parra can do to appeal, so what gives??
