Really, ever since the club shafted Tooves and then botched the DCE and Foran contract negotiations, we've been on the back foot. Think about this: letting Gutherson go to sign Dylan Walker was bad enough, but then we signed Nate Myles - Nate ****ing Myles - on way more money than Gutho was getting as well. It was a period of madness we've yet to recover from.
Or would that be since the Penns gained control of the Club?

We had Foz. He did well for us.
But he sh@t where he ate.
I don't want him anywhere near the joint.

Schuster is the future.

I don't understand why we would even consider him. Do we not have enough guys spending time on the sidelines ?

Let's just move on. FFS.

The Penns I thank for their investment in the club.

What cant be overlooked is the amateur hour that they have presided over when it comes to recruitment and the rorting of the cap that we were found guilty of.

It is criminal in my eyes that the 15 Holden cup team has pretty much gone except for Tom and our that the team that won in 17 has only seen Cust, Fainu, Funa and Oka and Keppie who came from Parra getting a chance. We had a sprecialist full back in Anderson who has never been given a chance even when our number 1 and his back up were out of business due to injury.

You see Sam Verrils and Fred Lussick both Manly juniors and hookers to boot carving it up at Easts and we have a major deficit in this position.

Letting Gutho go was a huge mistake and the cleanout overseen by Barrett and Bozo in 16 and the recruitment from that time is really making it hard right now.

The club needs leadership coming from the top and filterning down to the coaching staff and player group.

In 14 and 15 seasons the management created an environment where our 6 and 7 at the time played ducks and drakes about them re-siginging and we caved into DCE and you are right that we are still recovering from that season.

They say winning starts in the front office. Well the front office has let the club down too many times. We need better from them!!

It was Des that signed Foran to the Bulldogs for a million a year for I think for 4 years .... and that with the full knowledge of his injury nightmares at both Parra and Warriors ...

He also took T-Rex to Bulldogs on a motza ... and then signed him back to Manly ... for exactly no games ...

So I am not surprised he is likely to sign Foran again ...
So, you no longer think Des should be given another two years then? That was last week... as Cyndi Pauper sang back in the day-and I see your true colours shining through. Boy... if only we got this from you when it comes to Baz... never a harsh word about him. Did Des laugh at you back in the day Woodside?

Arghh .... smartarrse mode again ...Please don't try and tell me what I think .... you are completely unqualified when it come to any sort of cerebral competence .....

No, I have said that Dessie has enough runs on the board to get some wriggle room ... it is as I have always maintained .... Coaches are not Omnipotent ... not every thing is their fault, nor is every success their doing ... and Dessie is as fallible as any ... but he faces a challenge ... he is coming off a less than stellar conclusion to his tenure at Bulldogs ... and needs to quickly re-establish his relevance in the modern game ...

I just like to remind the #noexcuses brigade ... and the mindless chanters of the #nowthatwehaveagoodcoach mantra .... how irrational and childish they were in 2018 ...

And are there no mirrors in your house ... you spent a year blaming the coach for everything .... and now ... you just spend your time being an irrelevant smartarsse sniping at anybody who dares criticises your #nowthatwehaveagoodcoach Dessie ....

Time for you to grow up and realise that what I have been saying for 3 years is true .... about 53 things have to align and go right to have a good year .... and only about 3 things go wrong to be ****ked ... and the coach ain't in control over all of them ...

A beautifully crafted response Woodsie.
You Sir are a gifted wordsmith.

More like a gifted sycophant to his long lost one true love Trent Barrett. Woodsie never misses an opportunity to remind us all that it wasn't Trent's fault and we are all idiots for wanting him booted. He is loving the fact that the team is struggling so he can passively suggest Trent wasn't the issue after all. Whilst pretending to support Des. Its wearing thin Woodsie. He conveniently forgets that Barrett wasn't coaching in a covid year where they changed the rules mid season, he had had a fit Turbo along with Korisau and Walker playing like a team of Busted's, Trent was cut from the same cloth as Seibold excuses every week with few answers. I love you Woodsie but I will never agree with your sentiments regarding Barrett.

Read the post above this by @conanu. Your 58 things must go right theory is true to an extent... the Roosters and Storm must be very lucky indeed. Mathematically blessed!

Firstly, after some 55 years of attending games at Brookie ... to suggest I take any pleasure in Manly losing is pretty childish ... and very very wrong ...

Secondly, I am no greater fan of Barrett than anybody else, however I am a big fan of fairness and truth .... and whilst you and Kevvie the Miserable are happy to make all manner of excuses for this season, you conveniently forget the many challenges of 2018 .... and ALL teams had to face both Covid and the new rules ... not just Manly ...

What seems to be beyond the comprehension of some is ... that my opinion of Dessie and Barrett are not connected, to me it has never been a comparison ... if you were ever bored enough to check .. you would see that, as it was in this instance, you and Kevvie the Wanting are the ones who mentioned Barret, and who jumped in with the Barrett comparisons ....

it aint mathematics... it is a good organisational structure combined with a good talent identification/recruitment system and then good coaching...
we are 0 for 3 unfortunately...

I think we are close to rock bottom when all is said and done.

Lets take a look at our best (highest paid I presume) players

DCE = trying hard but his leadership and kicking game just dont cut it in 2020.
Tom = Busted all year.
Jake = Playing various different roles, has lost his mojo in 2020.
AFB = Gone
Walker = Busted all year
Marty = Got to be question marks over him, appears to have lost his dominance.
Sirro = In a fit body might be a superstar but looks a week to week proposition
Thommo = Gone

Outside of those 8 players we very skinny on talent.

We have just about everything pinned on the hopes of Schuster, Harper, Hopoate, Anderson, Burbo and co making it to elite level. Along with regular starters Paseka, Funa, Keppie and Fainu.

Funny how 12 months ago I thought we was heading upwards.

Don't lose hope Bob, we have also seen that Suli, Garrick, Cust, Guacomole, Paseka, Parker, Schuster and Harper are all capable of good 1st grade performances ... and the great hope ... Fainu ..

I don't think the fix is as difficult as some .... a fair run with injuries ... and the big one ... patterns and structures more in line with the modern game ...

I will be optimistic, or concerned when I see what our recruitment gurus do with the AFB (and others) windfall ....
