Someone can correct me if I am wrong here, but didn't we sign Turbo to his current contract after he had done his pec? I know pec's and ACL's are different injuries, but the reality is that Gutherson has rarely been injured since going to the Worms, and if he has been its never been a long term one. Turbo on the other hand seems to be turning into the new Foran in that can't get through more than a game or 3 without getting a major injury.

I dare say that Gutho isn't on the same amount of money as Turbo, but look at the value the Worms are getting out of him compared to the value we're getting out of Tom.
For the record, Gutho did his ACL near the end of the 17 season. Thats the only bad injury hes had since he joined them.

At the time I think Gutho was on his second knee reconstruction and he was a gamble to sign him to match the bigger offer from the desperate eels that paid overs

he had signed a two year extension with Manly- we then told him he was not needed and to fuk off basically - nothing to do with the Eels - all on us I am afraid.

2015
A shoulder injury to international centre Steve Matai saw Gutherson selected in the centres for Manly's opening game of the 2015 NRL season against the Parramatta Eels at Parramatta Stadium. He only lasted 13 minutes and 37 seconds of the game before he ruptured the Anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. Later scans confirmed the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) knee injury and he was ruled out for the remainder of the season. On 28 April, he re-signed with Manly-Warringah on a two-year contract.[25] However, on 27 September, he was released from the final two years of his contract, making him a free agent for 2016, due to salary cap pressure at Manly-Warringah. On 3 November, he signed a two-year contract with the Parramatta Eels starting in 2016

I said something in the game day thread yesterday that Zorba even said this morning. I much prefer a sliding defence than our style of up and in. All our up and in defence does is leave big gaps out wide, which has often not been helped by someone sprinting out of the line trying to make a hero tackle and either missing their target completely, or just not getting there quick enough to stop the ball being passed.

That and the teams lack of fitness is what worries me the most right now. Donny is supposed to be the messiah of trainers, the fitness guru ... yet yesterday we were blown away for fitness by the Titans. The Titans who have Dan Ferris in charge of their fitness. And TBH, its not the first time in the past 3 months that we have been blown away on fitness. And the capitulations like yesterday's come off the back of not being fit enough to compete.

Like I said earlier, what is going on? Why is it that really only Jake and DCE are the only ones who seem to not be gassed after 20 minutes?
Fitness looks better when you can control possession. A huge problem for manly is defending repeat sets and 7 tackles sets. Some games it seems like we get no ball for 10 minutes at a time. Then of course they are buggered.

game management is the issue, and possibly injury management.

Released due to Salary cap pressure at Manly-Warringah
Do you have any facts behind our cap pressure ?

We signed Nate Myles as part of the deal to keep DCE happy and make him backflip on Titans. Nate Myles wasn't signed for leadership value
You cannot publicly say to a player that we want to sign you so that DCE will be happy and so DCE will back flip on a contract!
What’s the player going to say .... oh OK!

More informed sources may correct me ... but I believe Dessie's contract renewal was delayed several times ... I believe the issue was that Penn was concerned about how much Des was spending and wanted to rein in the outgoings ... and Des said good luck, see you later ...

Haha, let's not fly too close to the Sun Woodsie, lest we get burnt

That's very true. Yet even with all that defending, Jake and DCE who are usually heavily involved in the defence, seem to be the only ones who aren't looking for the old Shell Answer Man after 20 minutes.

If team fitness was the main criteria in ladder places in the NRL ... right now we'd have the wooden spoon.

I was going to say that myself but you beat me to it lol
I mentioned something similar earlier.

Whilst I appreciate Zorba’s position now and agree with it, perhaps Manly would be better served if he said nothing.

He was part of the problem, going right back to leaking against Delmege after the 2008 GF, to backing Foran over DCE, to leaking against Toovey and CEOs various - which has led to where we find ourselves now.

At least we have the CoE and a 3,000 seat grandstand (getting underway in coming days), to look forward to. Arguably the greatest change to Brookvale since it was rectangularised half a century ago. Here’s hoping it acts as a catalyst for better times ahead.

Zorba’s comments re: Stephen Humphreys were very valid - we need to keep him long term to create some off-field stability. As a bonus, his son is a very promising half, coming through our juniors’ system.

Who is this Zorba man???? i have looked under extinct and obsolete but could not find him there.

As for Penn, is he still around is he?
The Zorba man is a honourable premiership winning Sea eagle legend
And premiership winning Manly legends live on for ever in our great clubs history

You can say that again!

if a work colleague pissed off your boss....and came back grovelling for his job back 5 yrs later and it resulted in you or your mate losing your job how would you feel And how secure would all the other loyal employees feel ....... it’s not about the money.
