Wright for Kelly?

No saying it will or should happen, but Wright's goal kicking, experience and ability to slot in at fullback if Tom Turbo is injured mid-game could be valuable in the back half of season.

Can't see us progressing deep into September without a decent goal kicker.

Personally, would stick with Kelly given his defence, improving combinations and reluctance to change winning team. He will only get better.

But Wright was preferred centre (until injury in early 2017 )... may be that way by season's end. Wright has five more weeks to state his case at fullback until Tommy T returns.

Good problem to have.

At the risk of getting blasted by my fellow silvertails, I am going to put this out there. BK started very well but has been quite average the last few games. His judgement needs to get a lot better and I hope he works on his speed and power going forward. He's young, but Walker is only 12 months older and he's older than Turbo for example. Not saying we should make a change but just saying we shouldnt get so excited about BK at this point.

While it is important having a reliable kicker, let's not get carried away with Wright's success with the boot. All of his kicks were reasonably easy, and we would have been disappointed if he'd missed any. He did all he could, but is he an outstanding kicker? I recall Walker kicking six from six in one match.

He hasn't been average. He's represented country, since the start of the year. He's won us games. He is far from average. His speed is fine, hed be one of the fastest centres in the comp. His defence isnt amazing just yet but it's not bad. He's building very nicely.

Kelly should not be moved. If Wright stays, Taufua leaves. Weight needs to have a game kicking from other than in front to be a noted goal kicker just yet but if so yes Taufua moves on for Wright.
Tafua go forward from the back has been one of the biggest reasons for our success. It's like having a prop back there (no overstatement there) he runs as hard as any of our forwards.

Yes certainly but look what you get from Wright compared to him.

Goal kicking
Safe under the high ball
Versatility
Go forward (not as much as Jorge)

You only get one of those with Jorge. I love him but what is better for the team. I'd be re signing Jorge quick smart but if we can't find a goal kicker this may be an option.

Hopefully the player that serves us best during Tom's absence should be rewarded with a starting spot

I agree about Taufua - been back to his blockbusting best and along with Uate - the key to where we are gaining much of our attacking momentum.
Kelly is going fine and apart from the Illawarra game - been solid in all area's....
Thing is - he simply seems quieter, because Manly are playing to the right edge 75% compared to the left 25%.
This is due to Walkers amazing form patch and a super combination with Uate on the right.

Yes but Wright looked comfortable taking the kicks at goal. He struck them with purpose and had a good technique. Walker on the other hand never looks comfortable and most times he is just hoping it goes over rather than believing it will go over.

Our centres and wingers are performing nicely!

1 more kick converted out of every 10 attempts is what we are actually talking about here (68% vs 78%).

so really about 1 point per game.

Sure it may cost us but so may a sheetload of other things. Kelly score more tries per game than Wright so that needs to be deducted from the 1 point, now its under half a point per game.

Yes mate i said he was wrong but he is al wright.

I have to disagree here...this is his achilles heel. He is not fast at all. There have been several instances where he has shown a lack of speed; in the 9's he had daylight in front of him and just made the corner for a try and was being chased by a forward. He got run down easily by Radradra with a big head start and last week against the Broncos he was in position to chase Nikorima and Cody teared away from him.

He would be slower than some of our forwards. I don't think it means he can't be a good footballer, because he obviously is, but I worry that it might prevent him from ever being a great footballer.

He appears to be a very naturally instinctive footballer with so many fine attributes...I feel that if he was a little quicker, he would be so much more dangerous than he already is.

I really liked his tough carries out of trouble the other night against the Titans. He has real ticker for a young bloke!

Down on tackle breaks......lot of missed tackles too. Still prefer him to Wright though
