World Cup 2022

Apparently.....

How far have PNG really come over the years?? Not that far if this is any indication.
It’s disappointing given how passionate they apparently are about league and their joining the Q cup… this is diabolical. But, can we expect anything different from the inability to grow this game internationally. RL is an east coast of Australia phenomena.

I don’t know what is worse… Australia’s cricket T20 World Cup performance or the quality overall of the RL World Cup?

PNG's NRL stars Johnston and Olam have been sorta kinda non events in this game.

They just combined there for Olam to get tackled on the 5th. Where are their halves for crying out loud???

I don't know why they've insisted on using soccer grounds with 35-40000 capacity in areas where the game isn't played. Surely having a full or even 3/4 full 15000 ground is better?

I seriously don't get why they are having a Semi Final at Arsenal's home ground in London. The only saving grace is that England will be one of the teams (against either Tonga or Samoa). Emirates holds 60,704 and like Old Trafford it offers a smaller than regulation pitch, complete with slopes beyond the touch and dead ball lines. And really, only a 40,000+ crowd would be acceptable.

Seriously, if they were going to have any game in London it should have been the Final at Wembley.

Wow, maybe I was wrong, Fiji 18 NZ 6 early in the 2nd half. It looks like tales from kiwitown each time the camera goes to Madge

I can't help but think the international game would be far better off if NRL referees were not involved. They have no feel for a contest. Its always officiate by the checklist, no matter what. The smart NRL players know how to work them to their advantage. Give me a French referee & lets see how good the Kangaroos or Kiwis really are.

After that game, I expect Australia to easily account for NZ in their semi-final.

Tonga v. Samoa should be entertaining. Tonga should prevail, but aren't certainties.

Yeah, I'm going to the Samoa v Tonga match, I was expecting it to be the match of the comp so far but after the NZ Fiji game I'm not sure now
