Wingers

Can't believe we would go after Norman. How many Last chance saloon players can one side buy? Just a grub who should go no where near our Jersey.
Walker has to stay at centre full stop. Why take your best 3/4 and try to make him a 5/8? Who would be stupid enough to do that?
Finally while it will take time to develop Tom Wright should be 5/8 for the remaining games this season. He has weakness gut would gain so much confidence if TBaz did a croker in him and said hes my No.6 for the rest of the season end of. Finau to Hooker shared with Hodjko.

Turbo
Uate
Kelly
Walker
Jorge
T Wright
DCE
Marty
Finau
AFB
Thompson
Lane
Jake

Hodjko
Pasenka
Jo get the jet ski
Tangonoa

That side would win more than they loose. I hope.

1. Tom Turbo
2. Taufua
3. Walker
4. Kelly
5. Funa/Anderson (I would prefer anderson since he's faster but anderson isn't in our top 30 unlike funa. So Funa appears the most realistic option since he's the top 30)
6. Tom Wright
7. DCE
8. AFB
9. Fainu (if not available due to toddy rejecting application then, dce to 9 and dudkinson to 7)
10. Taupau
11. Thommo
12. Lane
13. J Turbo

14. Dudkinson (if hodko plays at 7, then M Wright to 14)
15. Paseka
16. Sipley
17. Tanginoa (if still injured, then proabably frankenstein)

Rest of squad available (not injured):

18. Perrett (probably leaving the club)
19. Frankenstein
20. Funa/anderson (whichever player doesn't get picked on the wing)
21. Suli
22. Jonathan Wright

Anderson is fast and tough. Should have been in the 30 this year, but I would hope he has one wing sown up for next year. Taufua I would suspect has the other. Also an excellent cover for Tom T. If Barrett uses his brain, he should be trying either Walker at 5/8 and Tom Wright at centre, or the reverse. Both speedsters and potentially explosive. Or Kelly at 5/8 and Walker and Tom Wright in the centres. With Tom T coming though from full back and hopefully Anderson on the wing next year, that would be one explosive super fast backline...what a change that would be from safe and slow..

Unfortunately Barrett hasn't got one.

Because we have plenty of options for centre and wingers, but useless options for 5/8 .
Walkz is already under contract and has proven he can play 5/8 so why spend mega dollars experimenting with another 5/8.?
TB can use the rest of the season to experiment with different backline combos with the players we already have (minus M and J Wright, Hodko)
Instead focus our spending on front row and edge forwards.

I really want us to chase soliola from Raiders. Experienced, hits hard and does all the little 1% plays that go unnoticed. Him and K.sims would be my 2 forwards. We need a specialist 5/8 (norman maybe)
And a specialist winger capable of catching bombs, we have NO attacking kick option at the moment. So 2 forwards a half and a winger

Soliola woukd be a great pick up.

Good plan but by my calculations we couldn't afford that unless we let some serious talent go.

Guys we are limited with funds...or rather the club is I'm doing OK thank you...and I don't think wingers will be our problem next year so I don't see the value in chasing one. Anderson, Taufua, maybe Tom Wright if he cant fit in any where else, young Peter Schuster will be coming through soon, Albert Hopoate. What we need is to either tutor Tom Wright or Walker or maybe even Fainu, who was a half back, for the 5/8 spot or bring in someone experienced but not too expensive. We need at least one tough second rower. A few of our younger forwards coming through, such as Josh Schuster. We've got the basis of a good side...if its coached well enough.

Myles 500k
Lussick 350k
Perrett 300k
Hastings 350k
Uate 350k
Brown 300k
M.wright 150k
J.wright 100k
Lane 150k.
We should have 2 mil... a chunk of that will go to upgraded contracts but still a good mil to sign a couple experienced forwards and a quality half. Obviously we wont get a superstar but we don't need superstars, we have enough! We need experience in the middle that do all the little 1% efforts and an organising half.
With Taupau afb koroisau turbo bros kelly walker chez we have enough stars. We get siro and Tangainoa back. Walkers hardly player this yr. T.wright looks a gun. I reckon we will buy well and we will be a real threat again next yr

Yeah, a "good mil" left to replace the 9 players above. Won't be adding any quality with that kind of money mate.

The only profit there is Plod's 500k, which will disappear on upgrades real fast. The other vacating spots will cost the same to re-fill as they will realise us, probably more.

Part of Uate's money was still being paid by Newcastle and Hastings is 200k/year, only this year's portion was 350k. So that's about 300k missing from the "2 mil we should have".

And then there's the 330k cap penalty.

I love your sentiment mate but reality bites hard.

Lussick left early so only paid half his contract this yr. Hopefully perrett and hastings do too again leaving us only to pay half the contract this yr which means we can forward date contracts... Fainu anderson etc will come up on minimum wage. Barrett has already said we are preparing for next yr and we will be adding some experience in the positions we need.
And pretty sure we are paying hastings and uate in full this yr so forget about misusing that off.
We did not so heavily back end everyone's contracts as suggested. Its all speculation and media bull****.
Screenshot this post and re post it once our squad is settled for next year. The reality is that we will sign some quality players next year

Yeah, Fainu, Ando and possibly Amone will replace J Wright, M Wright and Lane's spots saving 100k and leaving 5 top 30 spots to replace with the 800k of your mil left.
If Hastings leaves before June 30 we will save 100k as he is on 200k/ year, that could be forward-paid to someone, same with Darcy's savings. Just because Hastings' 2018 portion is 350k it doesn't mean we would save 175k if he goes early.

I'm pretty sure part of Uate's money IS being paid by Newcastle for 2018 and i'm sure he is on 400 or 450k/year, not 350. He will save us maybe 300k by not being here next year but buying a top level winger will cost more like 500k..

Yes, I don't believe the Taupau back ended bullsh*t either.
There is a LOT of upgrading to be done and hopefully we have enough left for a real 6, maybe a forward, but I doubt much else.

We will see.

Not sure about others here but I'm just about done signing 'bad boys' and having to put up with the crap that eventually comes with them.

Norman is a dick who hangs around with people of dubious character. Do we really want another one of these guys in our side? From me it's a big NO.

We have a lot of junior talent coming through that need positive leadership and guidance not 'hey come to this club and meet this guy and fall on this line... ooops....

As good as Walker is who on here hand on heart can say that they really really wanted us to sign a guy that just OD on prescription medication and then broke his hand punching a door. The guy can play but is also an A grade grub on the feild.

Where are the Menzies, O'Connor, Ridge and the like? players that played the game fair but great and really never got into trouble.

Sure we have the turbos but we also seem desperate to add that bad boy element to the club. The sort of people that are a bit shady and foe me that's not the Manly way....

There's not much point in spending a bunch of our little money on a winger that'll never see the ball unless he comes in for hit-ups off our line.

Let's spend what we can on someone who can get the ball out to our starving backs.

Coach, 5/8 or whatever, that is our biggest problem.

A 6 should be top of the list. Without a decent 6 no backs get the ball.
