First Grader
I say Yes.
Seems to have the ability and is a genuine footy player, who uses instinct and not just robotic process in his game.
His mistakes were probably inflated by critics in 2017, as most rookies copping heavy scrutiny at times....as was his defence - yes there were missed tackles and some were blatent 1 on 1 misses, but keep in mind the pressure at NRL level in your 1st season after the middle has been rolled and try defending on your heels.
I recall a game against Newcastle where he dropped 2 passes cold in scoring opportunities, but throughout the season, seen this happen 100 odd times by various players, some elite by status.
Kelly has amazing feet in traffic and the ability to beat tackles with evasion, he is not a speedster in the open field, but can find the line and is good at both support play and setting up his support.
His involvement including rolling up the sleeves in ugly situations to get out of trouble, shows a willing player who can handle the tough stuff.
His attitude combined with that year of experience in 2017, gives confidence he could step it up in 2018 and be an X factor player in tight games.

I like the kid
First full season in 1st grade was mentioned as possible rookie of the year during the season
A lot of criticism was his defence but I blame a bit of that from Green always defending going backwards
At times Kelly got up and in while defending and looked much better
I’m looking forward to see how he improves this season

Not all the kids will have the year we want them too. But I'm very optermistic about Kelly. I think the kids got a little of that stuff you just can not coach. He has consistently gone up a gear when the stakes get bigger as well, he screams rep potential. Let's not forget this is his second year. But would I swap him for anyone else? No bloody way!

I’m confident he’s going to make some people eat a bucketful of “thank God I’m not involved in recruitment” pie by seasons end. Kid can definitely play and has a heap of skill.

I have VERY high hopes for Brian this year. He is a natural footballer and a good kid.
A blooming Kelly and a fully fit Dylan is a great attacking centre pairing.

No coincidence his defence only became noticeable after Tafua did his knee. Green didn't help nor did his second rowers. He is a natural footballer.

I still like Parker and after uate is moved on I think Kelly might excel on the wing. His pace isn't as bad as people believe. They harp back to him getting run down in traffic when he hadn't hit top pace and there were opposition in broken play all around. He was scouting for options not pinning the ears back which reinforces my opinion of footballer rather than athlete.

Kelly is a great kid and I hope he feels even more comfortable the second time around. With the whole experience he got last year and a better support either side, he will really come of out his shell this year.

As for Walks not being cleared till round 4 from injury, Imagine Jackson Hastings getting the centre spot over Matt Wright.. Just a thought anyway. If Dylan is kicking at Training already, Jackson could Sub that duty too?

Well played @BOZO, Matthew Hayden himself would admire the straightness of your bat there mate.
I play it as I see it Kevin . Last season I saw enough inept play from Kelly and was vindicated when he was finally dropped . He is young , so he can only improve . All young players can improve . How much ? No one but time will tell and that is why our club has not extended Kelly's contract beyond this year and our club is playing a very straight bat on that decision .

Fair enough mate, here’s to hoping he belts it out of the park.

Yeah but he's still a stain right? ...... On the jersey. Don't want to ever see this junior play in the Maroon and White again? He missed tackles. And he reminds us that Nth Sydney Bears are losers and so is he .We don't accept losing at the Eagles....

Lets see how he goes this year batty .
Your right we don't accept losing at the Eagles and that's what made us the great club that we are .
Have you signed up to support the Silvertails tipping comp batty ? or are you here for the free ride ?

Ha. That's an interesting one.

Last year I spoke to Dan and gave him some feedback. I said that I would .... if I didn't have to continuously hear negatives about the club I supports players.... Like they are stains....

Hard to see the point in paying for a supporters forum when certain users are forever doing the opposite of supporting the club. Constantly being negative about players etc.
Wow, so only if the world is perfect you will support it? FMD!
