Manly To Win!

I'm guessing it'll be out of Wolfman, Oldfield, Farrar and Whare - but I really think we need another specialist winger. If we have the money, we should go after Michael Lett - is off contract, can play winger and centre, and has always impressed in limited first grade opportunities. Or are there other promising wingers in our lower grades?

Agree. Sign Lett and give him the Des treatment.

My thinking is Des will be keen to develop some young talent, he is teh master of developing youth.

My pick is from these 5:
Wolfman - Assuming he is fit, he is our best winger
Oldfield - There to replace wolfman if injured
Farrer - i'd expect to see him in the run on side. I dare say he will also be a centre option in the event of an injury.
whare - I think he has a future at manly
Davey? - ive heard alot of positive talk about this kid.

I hear good things about davey but starting wingers will be oldfield and wolfman

Yep. If Wolfman isn't right to go for the start of the season Whare will get first crack.

Although considering we have lost Mr Dependable in Michael Robertson surely Craig Hancock can be coaxed out of retirement to fill that role?

I think it'll be Oldfield and Williams.

Oldfield has been eased into grade since the end of 10 and played here and there this year. Some good experience for him.

2012 should be his breakout year! Looking forward to seeing him in open space to see how quick he really is.

The question is, who will partner Lyon and who will partner Matai.

Williams won a premiership on the Right wing but i think Oldfield has played better this year when next to Lyon.

I'm going to say that it'll be Oldfield & Whare, with Ben Shorter getting the first crack should anything happen to either of them.

I really doubt that Wolfman will be right for the first half of the year at least.

Is Phil Graham from the Rooters on the market?

I'd take 2007 C Hicks.

Other wise our current squad is good. Plenty of options Oldy, Farrar, Whare, Wolfy when ready, even T rex can stay off the maccas and get a gig there.

I forgot about Shorter, good point. Well we certainly have plenty of options, just hope that Shorter, Whare, Davey, etc. will be able to step up to FG next year (can't rely on Wolfman or Oldfield staying injury free). Still think they should go after Lett though, can't hurt to get some more experience and depth.

Farrar is reasonable utility value but lacks pace as a winger.
Wolf, Oldy, Whare in that order unless we can get some bloke i hear can play a bit....ummmmm......Uate.:p

You'll laugh at this one.

Me on Sunday night...."Hey Crusher who are going to be our wingers in 2012"

Crusher on Sunday night..."Mark you think I am going to tell you, it will be all over the forum in 5 mins"

Lessons

1) They DO read the forum
2) My old mate doesn't trust me any more!!

Hahahahahaha. Should of asked him after many beers. I think Wolfie and Oldfield will start. An off season for Oldfield under Des will be just what the doctor ordered.

Plenty of options.
I spent last offseason saying don't woory, trust Des and Crusher.

Let's leave it at that. There are two wing spots, we know of five contenders. Surely that is enough for everyone to rest easy.

Sorry, recounted in my head, six contenders. All is well.

Everybody said Robbo lacked the pace to be a winger too. Knowing where to be at the right time can help make up for a lack of speed.
Disagree CCE, Robbo has only slowed up recently but heres another reason - Farrar is a little scary under the high ball - Robbo is not. I prefer Farrar purely as great utility value & unless injuries , would not be in the 1st team of 17.
