Where does Cronk go?

Zero Tackle reporting Jake Friend set to be released from the last year of his contract to make way for Cronk. Pearce would go to hooker I guess. (Anyway, comes from Zero Tackle so take it with a large grain of salt)
Can't imagine Dogboy at 9, he isn't up to tackling requirements or 80mins in that spot.

Me and a mate of mine used to always say years ago. Politis will go for any big name player that comes on the market, whether they need them or not, just so no one else gets them. It doesnt matter who has to make way for him, as long as he gets his man. Its good to see some things dont change

toronto wolfpack.

He was just kidding about that supporting his partner thing

Friend is by far a superior player to Api, but value for money Api wins hands down
I would call Friend a far superior player, Friend has been pretty lack lustre for a number of years now. While he is a good worker and has general kicking and ball skills he doesnt posess zip or speed from dummy half like Api has. Friend doesnt follow offloads either and isnt a very instinctive player. Based on what Api has produced for a good year and half now Id call him a better player.

Yes, would go with Api too. Although Friend is reliable and is a workhorse type player who id love off the bench. Not a chance though with his contract likely way higher than the average bench players contract

The idea has merit.

3rd Party Agreements are typically made for the elite players (and yes, to help keep them at the club they play for) but apart from that, the sponsor really gets next to nothing out of the player/deal. If the TPA was "transferable" with actual promotional conditions for the player and the new club (if the player does move), wouldn't that be attractive to the sponsor?

You answered your own question ................."the sponsor really gets next to nothing out of the player/deal"

The TPA deal is never designed as anything but a means to rort the salary cap.......................

If a club has an abundance of "sponsors" lining up, then some are merely diverted into providing TPAs.
It's the clubs that don't have those sponsors or the income that cannot really compete in the TPA areas.

If a "sponsor" genuinely wants an "elite" player for promotional & marketing purposes..................why would they participate in a TPA.
They would just call the players manager and say i want Joe Bloggs to promote my business and do a deal, no club needs to be involved.

The fact is the TPA is merely a tool to divert funds which would be heading to the club, to the player instead, and subsequently rort the cap.

Exactly, and the masters at it, the Donkeys followed very closely by the Rorters!

Sponsors lining up being diverted and signing TPA deals is very unlikely.

For example, let's say I wish to sponsor Manly for $200k and want my business name on the shorts, goal post wraps and corner posts but I am told they are already sold but I can use this money towards a TPA to secure Joel Thompson. The TPA will give me 8 x 30 minute slots with Joel to promote my business. Bad use of marketing funds.

If a "sponsor" genuinely wants an "elite" player for promotional & marketing purposes..................why would they participate in a TPA.

They would have to participate because the player belongs to the club (if they wanted the player for marketing).

They would just call the players manager and say i want Joe Bloggs to promote my business and do a deal, no club needs to be involved.

Then they couldn't appear in the clubs colours and I the NRL would need to be notified being the owner of the game he plays.

Totally agree with you the the TPA system is totally abused by some clubs and I suspect some of the money would be from questionable sources.

They are now saying Pearce to Warriors if Donkey Conk signs with the chooks

"Sponsors lining up being diverted and signing TPA deals is very unlikely"

Look say you are the Donkeys.............a sponsor comes along and is told 500k for corner posts (or whatever) .............the club doesn't need the cash (i.e they aren't desperate like us) ...................the Donkeys say you get the corner posts for $300k and the other $200k we want you to sign on for a TPA.

Sponsor says yes, no brainer!

Note also .............who are the biggest exploiters of TPAs..........Donkeys and the Scum.

Basically one team cities where all the local sponsorship dollars going to an NRL club has only one place to land!

Steve Roach blasts Sydney Roosters for insulting silence on Mitchell Pearce's future

I'm personally friends with him," Roach said. "I don't think Cooper could teach Mitchell anything to tell you the honest truth. I'd be a bit taken aback if I was him. He's run the Roosters for 10 years, won a comp.

"I don't know, mate, I'd be a little bit dark. I think it's a big kick in the guts. What it's saying is he can't get the job done. I don't agree with it."

Roosters officials reportedly have not been in contact with Pearce about the potential acquisition of Cronk, another issue that does not sit well with Balmain legend Roach, who has maintained a close relationship with the halfback, particularly in his role on the NSW State of Origin staff..

"That's one thing our game is missing at the moment is people being upfront," he said.

"If they were going to go down that track they should have had the decency to ring them and say, 'This is what we're thinking of doing'. They're 10-year players there. It's not everyday you get 10-year players."

Whatever the case, Roach is not fully convinced that Cronk, preparing for life without Cameron Smith and Billy Slater alongside him, will automatically deliver the Roosters the title they crave.

"Cooper Cronk is a great player, there is no doubt about that," he said. "But he hasn't tried to see how he goes without those other two blokes."

I could think of nothing better than the Rorters paying 1.2 Million for Gronk , having to unload Pearce and then discovering he’s useless without Scam!

Mind you that’s unlikely but it’s nice to dream!

I see Wayne has interviewed Cronk about the turbos and manly on the website might be something might not but I heard we will know #nextweek

Club insider claims Cooper Cronk news won't be leaked to the media
  • Adam Lucius[/paste:font]

    Published on Oct. 24, 2017

Influential Sydney Roosters board member Mark Bouris has spent enough time in rugby league to know nothing stays a secret for long.

So he was tempting fate on Wednesday by suggesting the Roosters will break news of Cooper Cronk’s planned signing, not the media.

He even managed a light-hearted dig at veteran News Corp journalist Phil Rothfield, who is usually two or three steps ahead of the clubs.

“Phil Rothfield won’t be breaking the news. It will be broken by way of media release…properly done, if we are successful,” Bouris told Triple M.

“We’ve got a board meeting tomorrow (Thursday) and it will be raised there.

“The appropriate manner is for the CEO, Joe Kelly, to raise it with the board and tell us where it’s at.

“I will (then) leave those things to (chairman) Nick Politis and the CEO and that’s the appropriate way to do it.”

Bouris didn’t try to hide his club’s affection and desire for Cronk, but denied it was a done deal.

He said: “Obviously everyone is interested in the guy. The guy’s a superstar and I’m not going to deny we’re interested in him.

“But everyone in Sydney wants him, not just us.

“At the end of the day it’s up to Cooper Cronk. He’s the one who makes the decisions.”

    Over to you, Buzz.

Anyone else read that, laugh to themselves and think Joe will undoubtedly **** this up..?
