Knights will be a premiership force next year or two. Their recruitment has been outstanding and is continuing on that trend. Commentary said today pangai jnr was looking around their facilities in Newcastle. I know he is a junior but for some reason I can’t understand how they are attracting some big names to the hunter other than money

Parker gets NO game time in 2019
Suli needs to lose 5kg and get fit, same goes for Taufua.
Lane and Marty are both extremely lazy in defence, really sloppy in the middle.
We need 2 hard nut forward leaders, we have NO talk out there.
We need 2 speedy specialist wingers that can catch and create something from nothing.
We as a team need to work on fitness.
We need a specialist defencive coach.
One positive out of today i seen....
Chad Randall seems to have the makings if a great coach, in the warm up he was the one talking and pulling players aside. When Brisbane scored (which they did alot) again it was Randall showing some passion and trying to rev the boys up. Ni one else was talking at all, just heads down! I believe Cartwright as a man manager and Randall as the hands on coach may work BUT and its a big but, We need to get the right defencive coach to assist them.

And a centre who can defend! Then we can at least improve a little bit of our abysmal defence. Although it all stems from the effort of the team (collective), and their resilience. The defence is a major problem, in my opinion it's due to the sloppy tackle attempts of Dylan Walker (who used to be gritty although has lost that fire since), Lane, Suli and Parker, which has kind of spread throughout the players/lowered the standards. And, up the middle, most importantly, the sloppy efforts of Api, combined with the lack of fitness/mobility of our massive front row of Afb and Taupau. The solution has to be to give **variety** to our forwards, and at least Lane, Suli and Parker are probably gooorne. This off season will be huge for our future

If you guys want to go into the season with no optimism that's your loss. I'll be looking forward to the season as always, I think we will be top 8, team is good just need a couple of smart pick ups, a decent run with injuries and no off field dramas we will go alright.

Last year it was the other way around, I was telling you to be optimistic! How a season changes things, but in all seriousness, at this current point in time, we, Manly, are royally ****ed

Can we turn it around before 2019? Absolutely, although I just don't see how our people up top will overlook their stubbornness to allow changes to be made in order to turnaround our decline

One thing I will say about today’s side...and it has been said before this year, is that i would take M Wright over all our other wingers any day. He can AIM UP IN DEFENCE and actually get his man! He can CATCH A BALL! He DOESNT GET CAUGHT OUT BY SIMPLE OVERLAP PLAYS! He tries his guts out, doesn’t drop his head, and all he lacks, unfortunately, is pace.

Check out the ladder, 500 Points For is the 9th best in the NRL whilst 622 Points Against is the bottom of the bird cage and Worst Defence in the NRL.
Whilst in the past promoting an Assistant Coach such as 2V to Head Coach right after Des just win us Premiership is appropriate as 2V was part of the team that generated the result,
the same can be said as to why Cartwrong should NOT be appointed Head Coach As he was part of the team that contributed to the worst pi_s we_k defence of the comp.

I know your feeling just like every other Manly supporter after his tough year, disillusioned, frustrated and with every heavy defeat of the same old same old selections, tactics and excuses at press conferences hope deflated....
I am choosing to be an optimist for next year, as long as Boo Boo Barrett goes, I for one do not think we are as bad off as it appears.
I have never been one to blame bad results solely on the coach or individuals, but never has it been so obvious that the performance of the team has been a direct result of the coach's attitude and decision making. Barretts sooked up excuse laden weak mentality (which he had in his playing days) has filtered through to the present players. He continually repeated mistakes in selection and failed to use his bench well.
A new season hopefully a new coach, even if its Cartwright and hopefully new selection approaches and a new attitude, yes Cartwright was an assistant and part of the team, but as has been said elsewhere, as an assistant some things are simply out of his control and should not be brushed with the same brush as Barrett, he was a tough player with a tough attitude and despite some failing at Titans still offers more than what Barrett has. We only need to tweak a few things and improvement will come, a proper 5/8 solves 3 problems we have had this year, options to the one dimensional option of DCE that defence targets, A world class center actually being able to play center and a prospect to play wing that has been forced to play center as a result. Defense is 90% attitude and Boo Boo inflicted a very poor one as an example to follow.
The final piece is attitude, mental toughness and turning up, this will be the hardest to overcome because Boo Boo set the rot in, but again hopeful who ever is the new coach can bring in some passionate ex players in. Ideally I would have Toovs back, but that isn't going to happen while the Penns are owners but just a few tweaks and we will do a great deal better.
A New Year, A new Season and New attitude with renewed hope GO MANLY !!!

Not sure, for starters get rid of that **** who the coach. Waste of space total dickhead.
We got some talent but there some holes about.
* get most players bar jake thats the polynesian boys to sit out end of season tests - there all need to get fit.
* teach kelly to tackle this fella like a dear in headlights still.
* what we had sucess with in 17 was a 3 prop rotation off bench - possible go back to this.
* if barrett gone i assume we pick up bryce cartwright worth a crack.
* we missed siro and api strengthen team.
* wingers - real trouble area parker tripe, Jorge seems past it. Bring in anderson possible sign another.
* kane elgey - better than croker and hodgkinson but no blake green. Kids got talent but is erractic player.
* 2 biggest thing must improve in off season to even be competitive be fit and our biggest issue attitude to defence.
* who leaving - lewis brown, shaun lane, uate, jono wright, croker( assume), darcy lussick (released mid season) hastings ( released mid season).
* new signings -elgey, hodgkinson (mid season), fainu (upgrade to nrl squad).
* it will moderately get better have no depth can't afford any injuries at all.

I agree. Taufua is handy bringing the ball back, but his leg speed is gone. Wingers need height these days too.
