Walters Sacked

Coaching well is a very specific ability, but it's hard to itemise accurately the key elements that lead to success.
Understanding the game is essential, but obviously not enough, and neither is being a 'good bloke' or even a club icon.
Based on my experience I suspect this applies to educational or mentor roles in general!
100%
I never thought Kev was a good coach, but seems like a good bloke. He was just the best option pushed by the old boys after they white anted Siebold. Still find it interesting that Carrigan and others speak highly of Siebs as a coach.

Well known in close circles that Reno was doing a lot of the technical stuff. Even Cobbo let that slip on a podcast a while back and at a time he was still too young and dumb to filter it.

I’ve said to mates up here there was clear culture issues in that group from early on in the season. Too many egos. They still all think they won that GF last year.

Apparently Kev was pretty honest in his response after the review re the players not wanting to play for him. Said something like, look at how they carry on, they don’t want to play for anybody! Which is a fair point. I mean wtf Walsh turning up to games with a cowboy hat in, Louis Vuitton handbag and black nail polish! Look at me, look at me, look at meeeeee……..

Looks like that there was heaps of pressure not just on Kevie but the whole coaching and support staff for quite some time now .
Probably a realistic conclusion would be that it would be more on the playing group or mainly their responsibility for the drastic fall from grace in 24 from G F contenders last season .
Bit harsh but looks like there was quite a bit of dissention with some behind the scenes staff club activities and the head coach would then be inevitably in the firing line .
Not too sure on the payout arrangements but 2 years still on his contract , so some comfortable and relaxing lifestyle on offer for a while at least doing S F A if that is his choice

Tough gig for Maguire to step into. I anticipate his appointment will not be well received by the old boys and the supporters. Maguire is old school and I wonder how that will go with the pampered Broncos squad. Fancy not putting in on the field and then saying I don't want to play for the coach. There's got to be more to it. Nothing professional nor dedicated about that. Time they took ownership of their own poor performances. They need to rebuild the coaching structure from the ground up. Looks like more misery for the Broncos. Yeeha!

He was delivered the news that nobody wanted to play for him and then he lost the plot is the word. Not an outright sacking so to speak but basically messaged that there’s no way forward, where do we go from here? I think he would have been sacked if he didn’t step down.
Think everyone knows it was Reynolds who guided the Broncs to the 2023 GF. Cobbo and another player, who escapes my memory came out and said point black, Kevvie is a good bloke but can't coach. Going of the vision in the dressing sheds after being sliced up by the opposition, just watching Kevvie stalk around the players arms folded, threating to leave the sheds. Then you look at the players faces, they just didn't care.
