Upgrade Barrett now!!!

We are playing a lot like those great St George teams that Barrett was involved in. As much as I would love to blame him, Barrett isn't the cause of this. We have a pretty rubbish squad. with too many hot and cold young blokes. The difference between the best players in the comp and the fringe first graders is consistency, they can all kill it on their day but their 'day's" are few and far between. We have the bones of a great side with guys like Jake, Tom & DCE but we are still a good few consistent blue chip first graders away from being really competitive. At the end of the day unless you are Melbourne where "apparently" they seem to never lose any players they want to keep and every other player on the market goes there to work harder and get paid less, or you are Brisbane where the NRL actively cheats for by setting your schedule for you and pretends it is normal. Or you are a Western Sydney team that the NRL wants to give a leg up to fight the AFL and Soccer. Unfortunately we don't fit any of those catergories so we won't be winning the comp whilst the current mob are in charge.

I agree that the Broncos get favourable draws but they do have to get on a plane basically every 2nd week and if they are helped so much by the NRL,either by the draw or the boring argument that they have an imaginary salary cap,why haven't they won a comp since '06?
Since Manly got as high as 3rd,they've had a Broncos like run with their draw with 7 day turn arounds

There you go with your smart sensible talk!! Ha Ha!. I really don't care anymore to be honest, I feel better when I believe the whole world is against us. I kind of feel like a crap fan at the moment. I was worried this slide was coming and honestly thought it would have happened sooner, I was praying it would happen to Parra and not us. Unfortunately the opposite has happened.

I am over my issues with Barrett but unfortunately now that I have come to terms and accepted him as our coach he will probably live up to what I originally predicted about him. I hope not though.

Our depth is being totally exposed at the moment and TB does not have the options to make major changes. It has been a great effort to do as well as this considering the handicap of having Stewart and Matai unavailable and not being able to replace them. If we sneak into the 8 the season should be considered a success. I pray that in week one we play the Whingers in a knockout semi, all the press and plaudits will be about them and it is a chance to get one back on the Dalai and his cretins!!

I suspect many have forgotten how inconsistent the Manly side was in Hasler's second year coaching at Manly. And we had some outstanding names in that squad who would later become stars of the game.

I'm afraid I'm a glass half full person in respect of the present side. I've always felt that they were playing above their weight this year and now that a couple of injuries and loss of form have appeared, the brilliance of what they achieved early on seems obvious. We forget too quickly that this is a young side, with lots of potential but still needing a little more experience and growth with some in the squad and an addition of a few hard heads.

Remember we lost Taufua early on, and he was playing some of his best football for years. Together with Uate, they were causing havoc returning the ball and supporting the forwards. No Taufua and a less effective Uate and we've lost a lot of that yardage. Then we lost Sironen, who was developing into quite an effective out wide runner, giving Jake and Taupau more room to move in close. Then we sold off Mr Plod, who may not have been much in attack but was doing a lot of good defence in close. Our big hopes for this year Bainbridge and Parker, both out for extended periods. The Stewart/Matai issue leaving us over a million down in buying power.

I think we've done remarkably well with a few young potentials, several unwanted players from other clubs, and a generally young side. Barrett has in my mind achieved wonders. This slump, is not unusual for most clubs rebuilding, and if we expected to win the premiership this year, we were fantasising. Its remarkable that they got up to third at one stage. But its been a tough season and the wear and tear is showing. We havent yet got a battle hardened squad but it will come. And I may be wrong, but my feeling is that Barrett will be with us for a while longer yet.

The press conference said it all

The coach has no idea, no answers, and has a losers mentality

He's off to the dogs anyways that's obvious

Just sack Barrett now and be done with it

Methinks you enjoy stirring the pot there Strone. I suspect that if we were all against Barrett and thought the team was hopeless, you'd take the opposite view, just to read the reactions. I bet you enjoyed debating at school.

8 months ago I was with you @strone33 but I really can't blame Barrett for our current predicament. I would be more likely to give him credit for the fact that we are even entertaining the idea of playing finals. Plenty of factors are at play here. I think our biggest issue is patting ourselves on the back in the media and talking ourselves up, it seems to really effect the playing group when we come off a week of the media blowing smoke up our back sides. We also come out before these matches and say what we need to do to fix it, instead of just doing it and shutting up. The young guys even Tommy T (Who i believe will be a star eventually) start believing their own hype and the press over state just how good they really are, so when the bad times come they turn into half a team of jarryd Haynes, all trying to get the win through a flukey low percentage play, instead of working hard in defence and waiting for the correct opportunity.

Barrett might be ultimately responsible due to his position as Head coach but unfortunately we really only have 1 quality, consistant, lead by example, calm headed forward and that is Jake T. Until we sign a couple more calm, consistant and talented mature forwards in the mould of G. Stewart, Matt Scott or Luke Lewis we will struggle for consistancy. Hopefully Barrett and Bozo are already looking for these type of players. We could do with a consistent centre whilst we are at it. Makes you realise just how good our previous playing group were.

There is an element to the Bulldogs loss that obviously everyone would prefer not to talk about...............

That c*** Dezzie completely out coached Baz

The dogs did something they haven't done for ages, spun the ball to the wide right to target our pathetic and slow left side.
Their first 2 tries were simple stroll ins!

I wonder is this in fact the issue, maybe it's reality and the players found out 5 weeks ago that next years coach is Scott Fulton, and they've just lost their **** ever since!!

PS: I don't actually believe this but it might actually be possible!

To be honest, if Scott Fulton is our next coach....................i'm giving up on the club till Bozo is set out to pasture........

Nepotism should only go so far!!!

Trent isn't what is wrong with our club. Neither was Toovey. And Des just won the comp for FS. Changing coaches every couple of years though is complete crap. Next year will be ****ed because Madge won't have the players he wants just like TB last year. Until our franchise can afford to retain a coach who does well, or can look past their own private issues with a coach. What hope has the squad got?

I agree and disagree.......

Trent was a bad decision! A young novice coach is not what this club needed. We needed a senior coach with a track record and strong discipline, we needed someone with a track record to rebuild the team and develop the players we had.

Dezzie should never have left ................if he stays we have a dynasty..........we had the players and the taste of success. Whoever and everyone who was involved in him leaving should be banished from the club forever!!! They obviously all put their own personal interests and pettiness before that of the success of the footie club.

What our franchise needs is a f***ing broom to get rid of all the current ownership and management...............they are all self serving f***ing c***s!!

Dreamer NL. If Dessie had stayed we would be in the same place we are now. He would have the players we now have and would be struggling to get them into the finals. He may be a good coach but he cant perform miracles as his 2017 Doggies performance demonstrates.

I disagree, if Dessie stays, history is rewritten.

Sure he is a c*nt now but Manly were the bomb in 2011!

Nepotism is not always a bad thing so we shouldn't be quick to judge negatively.

Without my input my boss hired my wife and then my daughter in law as well. His reasoning was that work ethic, honesty and commitment are generally a family trait and those were important to him. I tried to talk him out of it because of the risk of claims of nepotism but he did it anyway and 2 years on he is very happy.

I can't agree with this. Dessie would have handled the Gifty situation much better than it was handled. Our current situation can be traced directly to how the Gifty situation was handled.

I'm not arguing he should have stayed, but it should have been handled better than it was and had that happened we wouldn't have imploded like we did from August 2014 onwards.

Sounds like your boss hates you !!

I think this story would have made more sense in the Bozo context if the boss hired his own wife and daughter...........

This is borderline nepotism at best.

Everything has a border, it's like a second cousin is fair game but a first cousin is just plain wrong!!!
