You sent this at a good time. I am slowly coming to accept that focusing on the information/data/research papers is counterproductive. Admittedly, this has been a fairly demoralising discovery - though it certainly brings up the question of how can topics be meaningfully discussed without referring to or critiquing the information itself? That is an idea that I need to start to come to terms with because prior to engaging in this thread it is something I was totally naive to.

I have a few thoughts. Perhaps it is more about trying to get them to unpack why exactly they believe X Y Z in the hopes that they at least start to critically reflect on their positions / information more. The potential problem I see with that idea is that it seems every sensationalist Fox News / social media talking point tends to flood into this thread so we tend to jump from topic to topic like headless chooks at times.

Not to get too philosophical but I do believe the onslaught of information in the modern age tends to leave us shallow in thought. We each hold an increasing number of opinions, yet don’t have the time to consider each one in any great detail. Also, critically, within seconds of seeing a new piece of information we are surrounded by opinions of others online. Humans are terribly vulnerable to herd mentality and group think. It can’t be good that there is such little time to consider your own thoughts when confronted by new information.

If I looked back at my comments, I imagine they would perceive that I’m trying to turn them against everything they believe. While there’s probably an element of truth to that with respect to certain topics, I ultimately would much prefer that the black and white start to blend and that they don’t have to be all in on an idea when there’s a possibility they themselves may not fully know why at this stage.

Im going to have a listen to the extended podcast of that sometime because I do have a lot to learn when it comes to what helps and doesn’t; as well as what exactly am I dealing with.

While anti-Democratic tendencies began establishing its roots some time ago in the US, I am not surprised it had to wait for all the WW2 vets to die off until fascist tendencies began to seriously emerge in the mainstream

There is undeniable evidence that Muslims are way more likely to commit serious crimes in western societies. The data doesn't lie. Take a look at the grub who attacked the Synagogue in Manchester. Out on bail for a rape charge, then he goes out and commits murder. What a a piece of dirt.

Every time I open the news on my laptop and see another shooting in Sydney I know there is a very high chance it occured in Southwest Sydney. Performed by the usual suspects who do the same crap all over Europe. These are facts not opinions. My nephew is a copper and he says it is much worse than people realise.

I think the Isis brides whose husbands butchered and beheaded thousands of people should never be allowed to re-enter Australia? They deserve to remain in whatever Islamic dystopia they are holed up in. We owe them nothing. Islam does. They are the wives of heroic martyrs.

Hence why there was a Middle Eastern Organised Crime squad. It has been disbanded because it unfairly targeted the very people who were committing the violent crimes. Over 80 percent of all gangland shooting victims over the past 25 years have been Middle Eastern - FACT! If you disagree prove me wrong.

Do you think Christian theology is better or worse?

Do you agree that Islam is vehemently against gays?

Do you agree it is a death sentence to be gay in many Muslim countries?

Are you aware that thousands of Christians are being butchered by Muslims in Africa?

Do you agree that most terror attacks are committed by Muslims?

I look forward to hearing your views, which I'm sure you won't provide. Your problem mate is that you appear to be so blinded by the hatred you feel for Christianity, (likely because of the historical hurt you experienced) that you will stand with anyone who opposes Western Christianity.

Not really, only a fool would perceive this thread as being anything other than left vs right. An ongoing phenomenon which is currently sweeping the world. Your initial comment came across like an insult towards someone you disagreed with. Ironic considering that was what the video was about.
