From what little I know of Greta, I can’t say I’m a fan of hers,
But pretty horrifying to see people associating activism against genocide with evil. I think she cares more about indiscriminate bombing of civilians than carbon emissions of a plane that goes with or without her. Whatsboutism isn’t particularly applicable here
It’s either that or tall poppy syndrome and I’m not entirely sure which given Australians such as ourselves certainly have a problem with it
The current death toll figures in Gaza are understated. Israel is not allowing foreign journalists into the region independently. There’s no counting of bodies under the rubble going on. The numbers include only verified deaths (bodies, hospitals) and the only source at this point in time is Hamas (increasingly disorganised and motivated to underreport even those figures to avoid looking weak). Starvation also not factored in and is a real issue. Spread of disease is another; water has been cut off to many regions and when paired with open sewege and no functioning hospitals/health care then disease will find its way through the surviving communities
As seemingly pointless as Greta’s actions may be, it continues to bring attention to an issue that may end up defining our times. Israel is aware that global concern is mounting and they are under a time crunch to clear the land before they see the consequences of it
