[Resurrected] Tom Wright, the enigma

Good. That's what we need.
I didn't see the match but it's remarkable that he seems to have played well and yet we got beaten by the second worst team in the comp - one who were lapped by 78-points a few weeks earlier.
We were missing Tarrant and Josh Martin from the forwards who do a bit of work,we also had only 2 forwards on the bench plus Andrews was playing at backrower off the bench(I think). Both are named this week to play, the other forwards were very quiet except Faatui and Jesse Martin.Bainbridge was also a bit quiet with the ball in hand and missed quite a few tackles.Don't know if he is not 100% or if they are playing him on the edge and he is struggling with that....

Haven "t seen Tom Wright play as a winger yet , would be interesting to see how he would handle or manage the hit up role in the rucks . Maybe he could be in a similar mould as a Chris Hicks type winger . Jorge is still apparently unsigned , so i guess that any options may be considered for Tom next season or for the future but it is not out of the question that he could still yet develop into a satisfactor first grade 5 / 8.

Thanks SJ.
How did Tom Wright and Jade Anderson play?

Maybe they are reading this forum as Wright started at centre against the Tigers. The problem we had is that we barely had the ball due to our terrible handling. We coughed it up time after time. Id say Wright saw the ball once in the first half. In the second they moved him back to 5/8 and he made a line break with his first or second touch and almost scored. Paseka was great and shows what he can do. He had a great work ethic and in contrasts to most weeks they weren't using him as a decoy rather giving it to him for a carry. Anderson like Wright didnt see much ball in the first half as we never had it. Had a few scoots but thats it. Better ball in the second half although no where near the service and opportunities he has had in the last few weeks. Bainbridge was decent in the first half although got injured again so may be set for another stint on the sidelines.

Watched Wright today. Can still run, but is a worse defender than a busted Turbo at the back.

Maybe at another N R L club he could possibly snare a spot but not in the current Manly backline mix .
Haven 't seen any highlights of his game recently but credit again to him to have gained an international Union rating and helpful for him to be having an apparently good run on the injury front .
Really was given every opportunity at Manly to try to establish himself in a few positions but by the same token , should have been given a bit more time as a winger and at one stage in Barrett's time .
Left again with one year to run on his Manly contract with the club 's blessings but irrespective , would not have received much of a chance to establish himself with the direction the club was taking just prior to his moving on

Agreed. I was thinking as a DCE replacement. The way he's playing at the moment, dare I say it, is reminiscent of the great Mark Ella.
