TBF, his backing up has been on point as it always is, but everything else has been pretty ordinary. Way too frenetic. His kicking game leaves a lot to be desired and really struggled to bring any composure to his team when needed. Hopefully he'll settle down and take some control
I call bull****

Finally, we use Saab's strengths with attacking bombs... may that be the start of tries every game with DCE, Fozz and No-looker kicking for Saab to catch and score.
The other games I saw it was Saab not timing his run the kicks were spot on the opposition wingers head

i tend to watch the game mostly, as opposed to the forum. May i suggest you do the same if you want to contribute anything intelligent . I have invited you previously to add some footy related information but you seem to go missing until after the fact like most ironstines

It was a good win and DCE did some good things . He does need others to start the rot and when they do he is a champion. When he needs to start it himself , he is conspicuous by his absence, a bit like you when its footy related instead of **** talking

Anyway enjoy your moment.

PS . I support manly and want them to win . I just see DCE and his % of our salary cap , as a major impediment to that at times. I would love DCE to be a dominant halfback to lead manly, so i didnt have to critique his performances on a manly footy forum. Every person on this forum that doubts DCE , says the same stuff. FLat track bully that can tear a broken team apart. That is something everyone is united about.

Anyway cam good win and im surprised you didnt say much about tommy turbo, just me and DCE . Your a weird dudeA

A fully fit squad is a top 8 if not top 4 so our salary cap is ok and Des has resigned Shu,Oka etc past 2023 when Chezz contact is up hopefully he will extend his stay. Now dominant half I would say Thurston , Joey , Cronk(storm)are good examples and they all had pretty good players around them , Thurston(cowgirls) couldn't win a Grand final until Morgan and co turned up, Joey won 2 with some handy players and some non prescription drugs,Cronk won some and a new boat with an immortal or 2(yet to be confirmed) .One player doesn't lead a team it takes alot more Chez is one of the best half's playing today and Manly are starting to get the right mix of players in the team to contest for the top 4 .This year it's about not getting the spoon and a bonus to make the eight

woohoo!

go Manly!

Double it next week!

thanks @Jethro for adding in all the extra info, much appreciated.

And for temp suspending Dan and Ryan for hi-jacking the thread with their weird 'alternate universe' Ryan quest.

!!! lol

Fair assessment of DCE the jury is still out on him. He is a flat track bully. Let's see him up against the best next week. He must outpoint ramjet chin.
Mitchell Moses is a flat track bully. Dce is the Qld captain who just won the origin series. He’s played, dominated and beaten the best time and again. His form is turning around. It will be a good game v Penrith.

NRL 2021: Sea Eagles v Tigers, calls for Tom Trbojevic to play fullback in Origin | The Daily Telegraph

Outstanding job @Jethro - thank you.

He has been in teams that have won, he contributes some good moments but he rarely leads those moments. He is not the main man in any team he plays and when he is the results are there for all to see. He is great as a backerupperer but if munster and tommy didnt make the play and keep the team rolling it would have been a very different results

Ultimately what he does in a rep side has bugger all to do with manly and what type of player he is. He is the highest paid, most credentialled player in the game in the dominant position but only shows glimpses of form once others have made the running. Before tommy grabbed the game yesterday what had he done. A plethora of mid field ineffective bombs and made some tackles. He is ok as a half , is the best backerupperer in the game , can kick a 40/20 in amongst a ton of very average kicks and defends well. He would be an asset at about 750k

Manly could still win games without DCE but can DCe win them without tommy. The data is pretty conclusive

DCE now has three other play makers to take pressure off him and he is thriving. He is now allowed to play his natural game not be reinvented into something he is not.

Rewatching this game and jeeeeezus didn’t the ref try hard early in the piece to ensure the Tigpies got off to a good start? Their first (and only points hehe) came off a string of six agains, and I got the feel he’d have kept pushing that button until they scored ffs...

Um, how about ... he scored the crucial try that turned the tide of Tiger domination, by backing up Schuster’s break?
Is this not my point though. He is a great backerupperer but its off the back of someone elses work ( schusters in this case and turbos later ) pretty sure both schuster and tom have more try assists. He is very much like terry lamb who was a good player but not elite in any way. When the game is nil all or we are behind , when does he turn the match based on his ball work , leading or running ? When was the last time this happened, maybe 20 or 30 games ago. That is laughable . He is what he is but saying he is the master for backing up is like saying a winger playing outside of jamie lyon is the most influential player on the field for scoring 4 tries for simply being there

Backing up is a good skill but certainly doesnt quantify you as an elite halfback

Kicking a 40/20 is a great skill also but if the rest of his kicks are 5/10 it isnt the consistency of an elite halfback. The first 3 kicks yesterday did nothing but hand the ball over in better field position than where we started our sets , which was part of why they had us early. Even the first kick off of the game was pretty slack

How about we wait until he leads the team to a win using tom, schuster and foran as a decoy before we start talking about the messiah

Ok, Terry Lamb not elite in any way, now I see your point, lol

He certainly wasnt the player of his era, not even the best half in his team . In todays terms he would be worth about 800k , not 1.3 mill.

I really liked lamb, he was tough, defended well, kicked ok as a second fiddle and was a great backerupperer, but there were a number of 6 and 7 that did better jobs. Lamb was probably more consistent than DCE though and needed less moons to align to perform at a high standard.

anyway you seem to go ok on a topic you think has been done to death. Having a nice pear pudding cake from the river cottage series tonight as we have guests. Its worth a go, its bloody nice hot and cold

Actually from what I saw, most of them were 5-10 metres short of the line. What is he going to do? Jump up and catch it and then get tackled. They need to land on the line or just over and then all he has to do is catch it and drop to the ground. That is what happened this week and it came off.
