It is starting to look more likely that we finish 5th or 6th with the way the results are playing out. The Bulldogs are the real deal. Perhaps if the Sharks lose to the Knights this weekend we can sneak into the top 4 if we win our remaining 3 games. All we can do is keep winning. We are definitely a top 6 side and anything less this year would have to be considered a failure.
Agree a home final is the target. Even 6th is tough to get, with Canterbury and NQ in form, and the Cowboys with a bye next week. We have to bank a win against Wests, and tbh if we can't beat this mob we don't deserve a top 6 place. Then a huge game v Bulldogs.

I wouldn't mind us resting Talau and Gordon next week if they have injury concerns especially since we have the replacements in Tolu and Simpkin. Could also give that extra bench spot that Tolu leaves to Lodge to see how he goes. But if Talau wants that revenge game against Tigers then run it.

In almost sixty years of supporting Manly, I have NEVER seen Manly defeat the Tigers away from Brookvale, starting with the 1966 prelim, then the 69 prelim again, lost in the last minute, 1988 semi loss, and numerous Leichhardt Oval games.
Come Thursday night I'm nailing my ar$e to the wall at home.

For once i agree with Gus, how was Tigers player Aiden Sezer let go on this tackle that looked like a crusher? Nothing on the NRL charges list this morning.

"That was the longest and most prolonged crusher tackle I've ever seen," he said on Nine.

"He must've held him there for 10 seconds."

"There's people that have been suspended, fined, charged for crusher tackles that will be scratching their heads at home going what the hell was that?"

Manly at Leichhardt Oval vs Wests Tigers since the end of the Beagles era.
9 games : 2 wins

2019 Rd1 lost 20-6
2017 Rd23 lost 30-26
2016 Rd2 lost 34-18
2014 Rd5 lost 34-18
2007 Rd2 WON 19-8
2006 Rd9 lost 24-18
2005 Rd17 lost 49-24
2004 Rd7 lost 30-22

Even in the 2003 game, Manly were behind 24-6 mid game and then still behind 30-26 with 10 to go.

Tigers are a lot worse now than they were in any of those years. Last night I would accredit to South Sydney having a whole 1-17 team of injured players. Kennar and Milne, what a centre combo. People crapped on Parker and Harper on here... Nothing comes close to who they have.

We've got a decent record against them at other away venues such as Campbelltown, Homebush and Parramatta in the past 20 years, it is just Leichhardt that is the outlier.

No excuses this week though.

… so the law of averages .. we should win the next 7!

Just sayin’

I agree with you there feathered friend
There is a reason why Souths are third last on the ladder and the Tigers exploited this reason and came up with the narrow win .
Manly is in a different class and we will kick the tigers arse
As for Kennar , Milne and Parker and Harper . They all belong in the fringe First Grade club

Yeah, I hate going to the 'wonderful' Leichhardt. Have to hike out to Campbelltown for a win.
The best though was Anzac Day at Parramatta 2021.

Depth is a wonderful thing. Frankly I don't understand the talk about resting players we need to win and if we show any side including the Tigers disrespect in selections and attitude then we will get our bums smacked.
Besides which we've just had a bye, so they shouldn't need another rest.

We have to make sure we turn up on thursday and not think we have got this in the bag. They play really good at Leichhardt and they will be determined to take another scalp in us. We have to be ruthless with them
100%, to much to play for on our end. Tige's will play an up in your face type of game that they revel in, but once the dust settles we should take this one comfortably by early 2nd half.
