RUGBY league great Johnathan Thurston has been arrested for public nuisance in the Brisbane CBD.

The incident happened on George St outside the Treasury Casino, say police.

RUGBY league great Johnathan Thurston has been arrested for drunk and disorderly behaviour in Brisbane's CBD.

Police said he and two others including Nathan Daley and Willie Tonga were ``behaving in a disorderly manner'' in George Street outside the Treasury Casino about 4.15am.

Police spoke to the group and they laughed at the officers, before walking towards a taxi rank.

Thurston and Daley are then alleged to have wrestled each other on to the roadway, ending up on top of the taxi.

Police said the pair was then arrested ``for their own safety''.

``Both were grossly intoxicated,'' said an officer.

``Nobody minds people going out and having a good time, but when they're spoken to by police they really need to pull their heads in.''

He said once the men were arrested they started behaving.

They will be held at the Brisbane City Watchhouse until their blood alcohol reading falls below 0.05.

Both are expected to be charged with public nuisance.

When Brett was arrested,it was "after a Manly pre-season launch",even though the event happened nowhere near the launch.When thurston is arrested,it's "in the street",nothing about where he was previously.Double standards??BTW-I think it was the launch of the indigenous all-stars (or something similar),so the league won't want a blemish on THAT!!

Forget about JT being a protected species.Every journalist in Australia knows the real truth about the life and times of Darren Lockyer over the last 10 years as does half the state of Qld and never a word.It is unbelieveable really.Doesn't overly concern me as he is a great player on the field but those perennial "troublemakers" like mason and co would have to wonder about their lot in life.

Who would have thought .... JT being disrespectful to figures of authority, just ask any of the refs.

He's set to appear in court on the 6th of October and apparently wasn't happy with the waiting media scrum when he was released from the watch house.

Brookie4eva, he doesn't appear to have gotten away lightly this time. Arrested, time in the watch house and being publicly humiliated through the media, is not what I would call getting away lightly.
