A special welcome to Thommo & Lackie for their first game in the famous Maroon and White.

I am sure we wish them both the best.

And go out there tonight fellas' and enjoy yourselves, no pressure, just the hopes and dreams of thousands of Silvertails rest on your slightest movement.

Thommo ... do what you do ...

Lackie, you wee Scottish gem ....... grab the moment by both gonads lad ....

Enough hilarity ... in the fair dinkum stakes ..

We will be assessing young LacHie's form tonight behind a pack that has only 2 established props.

(@Batty will have a conniption fit that there are Nil on the bench instead of his preferred 3/4)

Whilst both Lane and Frankie have the size to compete, neither to my knowledge have spent any/much time in the middle. Kelepi, whilst having played some prop is more of a backrower for mine, and he would be on the small size for a regular prop.

I like that Baz is trying this .... big benefit if successful .... just makes it a bit harder for Croker not playing behind the normal pack .....

Well said Woodsie . Both should be very committed and ready to have a real go in the proud Manly colours .

Ok I'll bite.

I like the 4 forward bench mate.
Never been a fan of Brown/Hastings on the bench is all. They provide no impact at all. Wasted space.

Happy to see 3 props if 2 are smash em up the middle style (Lussick/AFB/Sipley) and the other has some footwork eg Perrett.
Then you need some backrow coverage like Gosie/Frank or you need some impact like Lane or Paseka.

I like tonight though. Baz clearly is giving the remaining guys a chance to fill Darcy's spot come round 1 and see who can handle it in the middle. Big mobile bench could unsettle the Roosters especially if our guys are fit. We may run over the top of them late... You heard it here first.
Sorry Battie but it was not a bait .... the point is there are NO props on the bench ... the fact that Baz is trialling Lane and Frankie as props, as well as the size challenged Kelepi is to me very significant if successful .... a game changer.

i wouldn't read that much into it, i think Baz is more about game time for our 4 props who will play round 1, the bench tonight is more about working out how effective these guys are as a centre/edge forward (2 positions) rather than the 3 prop bench he had last year. This would also show that he wants this player to cover Browns backrow cover from last year leaving the utility to be Fainu or Hastings.

Possible .... but I sincerely believe this is an important shift in Baz's planning ... if he can successfully turn Lane or Winterstein or both into props .... I believe the whole dynamic of the pack changes ....

I think it is about more than just bench spots ...
