This sin bin edict....

At the end of the day the NRL has a legal responsibility to protect their employees. I don't like it but if it reduces head knocks, HIAs and subsequent brain damage to these guys then I'm all for it. Tackle low there wont be an issue but please refs , reward players who go low, give them more time on the attacker and not doing stupid set restarts because of it. Let's see how serious they are when the purple scum and the westie slime try their usual rubbish grubby tactics.

Only 2 sin bins from last nights games were for high contact, all the rest for slowing down play the ball, and 4 of them were in last last couple of minutes, so no dramas for me

And how many times do we see the rest such as slowing the play the ball just get a 6 again or nothing at all? And now suddenly they are sin-bins? Seriously, for the past 9 weeks what both Schuster and Croker did would have attracted a 6 again at best. Now the players are getting binned.

Yes I agree with the head contact ones so long as its a legit high shot. But the ones like what Shoe and Froggy got binned for are an overreaction.

All teams were warned, too many set restarts and someone goes in the bin

Not arguing that. I just think its an overreaction from the NRL that wouldn't have happened if Robinson hadn't pointed out one case of incompetency.
Agree, but I think the NRL already decided to do something about too many set restarts, then they reacted to Robinson

They have opened a can of worms with any contact to the head is a sin bin, the Burr sin binning where Teddy slipped into the tackle could be a new coaching technique this week.

Slip and duck going into a tackle and the opposition team loose a player for 10 minutes, can see a few coaches letting the players know of this during the week.

The bunker just needs to tell the ref if the player slipped or bent down into the tackle and no bin.
I'm imagining a game 1 min left 1 point behind 30 odd metres out will be too easy to milk a penelty.
They just need to adjust it a bit.

This is true, as people have said over the years. A front on legs tackle that stops a player in his tracks with strong contact needs to be rewarded similar to a surrender tackle. The dominant legs tackle isn't rewarded enough. Of course a legs tackle with minimal contact where the player finds their front, play on, get up. But this is a critical thing to address if they really want to make the tackles lower.

Of course this will require refs to have the "feel of the game" which they tell us they do...

I don’t understand how the nrl deem high tackles bad enough to bin a player, but said player ends up paying a fine rather than suspension. Clear mixed messaging coming out of HQ

It's such a simple fix.

Reward legs tackling and coaches will instruct players accordingly.
it has been a no brainer for years, since the wrestle was introduced....yes this may involve (shock, horror) actually slowing the game down from today's supersonic speed.

It encourages more offloads as well for the attacking side.

In all honesty, if the NRL had just had the balls to penalise the wrestle out of the game when Melbourne perfected it ,we wouldn't be here right now.

And for ****s sake, make any future changes in the off season.....so teams can adjust rosters, and train for the new rules.

Crackdowns, always have , and always will be an admission of failings by the governing body. The game has had very little leadership around the rules, the product , for decades and as a result we have crackdowns to rectify the lack of strength and backbone shown by the people running and officiating the game

Every crackdown the league has affects the fans, players and clubs but rarely points the finger at those that made the crackdown a necessity. Administration

Being popular in the media as opposed to doing whats best for the game long term has been the mission statement fron NRL HQ for far too long.

The bunker , the rule changes and the inconsistent application of them coupled that we have interpretation of the rules as part of RL venacular has been a massive failing and seemingly never at the forefront of the NRL plans to increase the experience

For too long the NRL has pointed the fingers at players, coaches, fans , clubs and not itself for the decline in the game. Its time . This is a rubbish kneejerk response to a neglect from HQ and everyone suffers but them

The NRL has jumped the shark with this junk.

NRL really care about head damage? Why is it only the defence getting penalised then?

If you carry the ball you can still lawfully do all the things to the opponent's head that the tacklers are now being binned and reported for.

And for those screaming "Just tackle lower then", I'll try not to recall the number of times Glenn Stewart, Steve Matai and Choc Watmough got penalised for tackling opponents too hard around their hips.

Not anymore. Penrith scored a try against the titans and disallowed as one of the attackers fended with his elbow into the shoulder/throat.

No try!!

The commentators said that could be penalised 30 times a weekend.

What are the chances the NRL will issue a new edict this week modifying last weeks edict, modifying the previously existing edict?
Are the NRL a bunch of edictheads?
