Over the past two years, much ado has been made over our recruitment policy .... specifically with the sacked, rejected and broken souls from other clubs .....

Just because I'm bored .... I thought it might be illuminating to see how some of these bargain buys and reject bin players have turned out .... and give the player, and Baz, a joint rating for the result ...

Siro .. unwanted at Tigers ..... becoming a solid 2nd rower .... rating B+
AFB .. sacked bad boy .... From reggie to International .... rating A+
Perrett ... unwanted at Doggie's ... Not there yet ..... rating C.
Uate ... unwanted by NewC reggies .... He's back baby! ... rating A
Hasting .. unwanted and sacked for being a numbnut ... still a numbnut ... rating F
Lane ... unwanted at Doggies & Warriors .... ripping in and killing it! ... rating A+
Tanginoa ... in the wilderness in reggies at several clubs ... becoming very useful ... rating B
Suli ,,, 3 clubs ,,sacked for lack of commitment .... too early but a provisional rating .. B

Whilst opinions may vary ... (you will be able to tell the wrong ones because they will disagree with mine) ....

Have I missed anyone?

Lewis Brown - unwanted at Penrith
Dylan Walker - sacked by Rabbitohs
Trent Hodkinson - unwanted by Newcastle and Cronulla

What about Jono Wright?

Jono was bought as a reggie and depth ... and is still a reggie and depth ... so I guess a rating .. pass mark
Lewis Brown - unwanted at Penrith
Dylan Walker - sacked by Rabbitohs
Trent Hodkinson - unwanted by Newcastle and Cronulla

Was Lewis sacked or did we "poach him" ...

Walker still came to us as a top player ... don't put him in the flotsam class ...

Hodko ... too early ... but if his knees hold up I a predicting a B+ ....

@Woodsie

Went for a walk today and found a golf ball with "Aberlour" and it's logo printed on it.

I thought with a name like that it has to be a Scottish Whisky. (well, a place first)

Sure enough...

Steeped in centuries of legend and surrounded by the dramatic Highland scenery of Ben Rinnes, the village of Aberlour lies at the very heart of Speyside, where the Lour burn joins the River Spey.

Then I got thirsty.

Sorry, I have nothing to add to the particulars of this thread.

Everyone gets an "A" !!!! woohoo

Edit: Maybe it's "Jetsam" as that refers to debris intentionally thrown overboard as opposed to flotsam which refers to debris not intentionally thrown overboard.

And you think you were bored... 😛

That must have been one heck of a long drive with a wicked slice!!

You can bet the Scottish golfer will want his ball back ....

The big unit Paseka has been a surprise to me I thought he was going to be a bit like T-Rex but he really stepped up when we needed him to produce in first grade.
Maybe a B+ ?

Agree Andrew ... but I think we paid top dollar (relative) for the big unit .... don't think he qualifies as jetsam ( note @globaleagle ) .... but agree he has surprised me with a fair degree of urgency and better mobility than I expected ....

I agree he was definitely targeted as opposed to jetsam....I probably get carried away when I see good recruitment that seems to have paid off.
I can't wait to see Paseka and Tanginoa together on the bench, with Marty and AFD as starters we have potentially the best front-row combination/rotation in the competition.

Really we’ve done pretty well with the discards, which to me fly’s in the face of the #sackbarrett crew.

Most have improved, some have excelled but the ones we’ve seen in FG have largely impressed.

I don’t think you can count Jono Wright in that , he was bought cheaply and really was never going to be used unless absolutely necessary!

I actually have Siro as an A, because I think he has been super important to the team. When he got injured last year, we went on a losing streak. Same this year. Some teams have players that whenever they seem to play the team goes much better (non superstar players I mean here) - I think Siro has been that for us.

When Horhay and Sirro got injured in 2017 our season went from ok to bad in an instant, ditto in 2018!!

Great report card Headmaster Woodsie ..
The great thing with the 19 year old Suli is that because of his past demonds and issues with other clubs the kid didn't get a descent pre season training and started the year much later than all NRL players so I would give him an A for that effort alone .
I liken Suli as a locomotive gaining momentum at full speed ahead as he catches up with his match condition, timing and fitness.

Have to say that we've shown a lot of resilience to pull ourselves out of the rut this time around whereas last year it didn't stop until Siro came back. Lane's form in jersey 12 has a lot to do with that though.
