Manly civil war reveals public anger at Fulton

Bob Fulton has been likened to boxing champion Manny Pacquiao as the fight for control of Manly continues to divide the club and community.

Club legend Fulton is at war with CEO Tim Cleary after the new Manly boss sacked the Immortal’s daughter, Kristie, a week ago as part of a staff cleanout.

HR has now been called in to interview all Manly staff, with Cleary basically telling club chairman Scott Penn to ‘sack me or back me’ over the Fulton axing.

Asked to dissect the drama, Channel 9’s Danny Weidler told the Triple M Grill Team: “Their office is very unhappy…(but) it’s going to be a really hard fight for CEO Tim Cleary to win against Bob Fulton.

“Fulton is like Manny Pacquiao. I don’t know if he’s ever really taken defeat too many times. I don’t know how he gets beaten on this.

“(Fulton’s) going to have media heavyweights on his side…someone like Ray Hadley’s going to be heavily in his corner as is Paul Kent, who is a firm Bob Fulton man.

“(But) Tim Cleary wouldn’t be acting like this if he didn’t have the green light from chairman Scott Penn to go after Fulton and get him out.

“Whether both can survive….I can’t see it happening.

Meanwhile, in a parallel universe...

Fulton - "I'm a club great Cleary and if you don't like my influence then I'll get my media mates to pile on and make life hell."
Penn - "Bob, you're out."

What am I missing here?

Penn needs to unearth his inner Nick Politis.....on your bike Bobby.

Oh yes the glorious Penn, investing in a loss making venture like a NRL club.
Remind me again about the LC building and adjoining carpark, and who is making $ off their sale ?
Blah Blah Blah, I'm no great fan of the Penns right now but they have pumped into the club more than any sale of LC Building has returned to them. The LC had every right and every opportunity to sell to the highest bidder..........wait, maybe that was the highest bidder at that time.

This rubbish is getting very very old.

Thank God we have a hard ass in Cleary making the tough decisions. Reconciling staffing happens in every business. Heck, Banking industry is the worst.

If the work is no longer there, then it's not there.

After Obeid gave Darcy an apartment at Top Ryde you'd think he'd at least be entitled to a ticket to the footy.

I see your spin and raise you mine @;)

Manly Sea Eagles secure home on northern beaches with Lottoland sponsorship
February 2 2017

Manly have enjoyed a double financial win after settling their sponsorship dispute with Coco Joy and landing a naming rights stadium deal that secures the club's future on the northern beaches.

The Sea Eagles will go into the 2017 season in a much stronger financial position after sealing two sponsorship deals with Lottoland, including the re-branding of iconic Brookvale Oval. Under the terms of the deal, the home ground will now be known as Lottoland in a deal which nets the club a seven-figure sum.................

In another significant boost to the bottom line, the Supreme Court dispute with FAL Healthy Beverages, the parent company of major sponsor Coco Joy, has been settled. While the terms remain confidential, it's understood the outcome has resulted in a significant settlement for the club.....................

Now it doesn't clarify whether the settlement was "significantly" good or "significantly" bad..........it's secret squirrel stuff.

It says significant boost in the first line of the part you bolded.

Thanks for the feedback Scott.

Yep same from Weidler earlier today. They met at Penns office and will move forward and work together. Weidler said no doubt that will mean some staff go.

As I recall, Jake did all the running around, while the Fatman sat at his desk eating and giving directions to everyone in a deep breathless voice while not moving a muscle. There is a metaphor for our current woes in there somewhere.
Like Zorba the Hutt.
